IMPORTANT: You can also get manure using the regular silo for manure near your pen, if you placed the extension it doesn't matter they are the same price and capacity so it really does not matter but thought you should know! Hey there, for my game I put down the regular manute heap instead of the extension and I was unable to get any manure from my cow barn. I deleted the hrap and put down the extension and started getting manure. Not sure if it was the heap itself or something I did but just wanted to add my experience in case anyone was also having the same issue. Thanks for the video!

How are you not having graphical glitches? I have a high spec PC and the textures flash black periodically along with some drops in frames. I’ve tried everything to fix it but nothing seems to work. I’m not the only one with this problem. I’m giving the game the benefit of the doubt considering the game was just released, of course there is going to bugs. Hopefully it’s addressed.

I might be doing something wrong but maybe you can test this. Buy the robot feeding cow pen. Add a silo extension for slurry (I bought the big one). Place it down close enough and it brings the capacity from 100,000 to 2,700,000. Sounds great. But after saving game and coming back, silo extension is still there but capacity has been reduced back to 100,000. Any thoughts? Maybe it is just cows? I am going to run the same tests with pigs and see what happens. Do you think Giants knows about this? Thanks for your insights and helpful videos.

So frustrating that feeding cows grass from a pasture only provides 40%. It’s like giants has never heard of grass fed cows. Who fixes it first? Modders or giants?

I’ve raised cattle for 20 years off grass when it’s available and hay in the winter and some grain from time to time. It sucks that you can’t do that through the game hopefully modders do make something where we can do that

Just an update for you on the manure bunker, MRSEALYP was streaming the other day and he used a silo manure bunker, not a silo extension, and it worked fine for him producing manure, just thought you'd like to know 👍🏻

So you never circled back to whether cows will eat simultaneously grass and hay. I didn't know that grass alone wouldn't give them any health and now i'm stuck with a barn full of grass, they're eating it but i need to add some hay, can i mix the two? Will they eat both and bring the health back up or do i need to wait several months and let them burn through the grass?

I was able to do it in that first pasture, drop the hay bale directly on that silver square and it fills in there. I needed a front loader with a bale fork.

You only get manure if you have the silo extension and you give straw to your cows with a straw blower, slurry it produces anyway

The food does not affect the waste in any way. Adding straw to TMR does not count as bedding.

If so that sounds depressing to me but getting both was kinda too much in FS22 atleast the way I played and for me to handle because I play small farms to start but if I'm doing animals I do from from the start and getting both from cows while it took alot of work paid off very very well

You don't feed the cows straw, the straw is for bedding and making manure with the sheds. Hay bales are the easiest decent food to feed the cows

The different netting and wraps are esthetic. To get grass bales you mow and then windrow and bale with a baler that doesn’t have wrapping. To get hay you have to mow, use a Tedder then a windrower and then bale. To get silage bales you mow, skip the Tedder and windrow and bale with a wrap capable baler or regular baler then use a bale wrapper and then give it time to ferment and turn into silage to get silage bales. Straw bales you bale with a regular baler after you harvest a crop that has an option to lay down swathes through the harvester, wheat is the most common to do so with.

Have you retested meadow regrowth with the release version? Its extremely pointless if its a once off deal. Does it regrow / maintain growth if herd numbers are manages right? Eg, if the field supports 100 animals, do 25 animals eat at the same rate it regrows? I'm thinking along the lines of a breeding pen where you say maintain 20 breeding animals, let them birth 20 using good feed (giving 40 animals), then let them all eat the meadow to grow up, sell or move the new stock out and keep 20 breeders where the meadow can regrow. Then throw in some good feed to simulate breeding again. Also, this is a big improvement compared to FS22, but its STILL a long way from decent animal management and farming. I understand the new engine and what not would have taken a bit to do. But hopefully they can do a DLC or at the very least in the next version do a proper animal upgrade. The building of animal pastures can be expanded to include editing the fences after creation including adding gates and secondary pastures that we can herd the animals into. Animals need both genders to breed, with realistic success rates and birth rates. Even if animals "cant die", old age should reduce their value, breeding success should reduce and stop and milk producers should stop producing (so the only smart choice is to sell them). It would also be great to have to manage milk producers to run dry after time, needing to breed again to restart their production. This would most likely need to change animals from age groups to individual animals (with basic stats for each animal, advanced barns would add extra animals stats like weight and milk production per animal.

I’ve noticed if you plow a big area and plant it in grass and then build your pen to match it , it will grow back if you feed them tmr, hay or whatever. If you rotate and give it time off it will grow. I also only fill the barn half or so of its full capacity with animals so they don’t eat all of the pasture super quickly so you can actually graze them on it for a little while.

Renting, or pay a daily fee plus hourly fee for each hour you use the equipment. You will never own it through leasing, but continue to pay daily indefinitely.

Not quite.. It's the pasture that doesn't produce manure or slurry. Any of the barns, including the breeding barns will produce manure and/or slurry.

I actually believe they still have the animals so unrealistic. Compared to fs19 in my opinion was the best game for animals and it was done properly and way more realistic. Each animal was viewed as an individual compared to this viewed as a group. Even pigs and sheep had realistic births in 19 you 1/2 lambs and pigs had litters of over 12. This game they only have 1 offspring doesn't make sense and can't believe they havnt gone that way. Hard lines fs19 is still way ahead where the animals are concerned

In game it says depending which cow you choose, they will generate more milk...so Holsteins SHOULD make more milk than a Swiss, if it's true. Also, it's kinda disappointing that meadow does literally nothing for cattle. Kinda like what's the point of even having the meadow at all for cattle.
