I just stand in the reeds or in the boat in the reeds at this point. Got rid of the blinds a couple of years ago. They ended up being more trouble than they were worth in my experience. I’m on big water and I noticed that when I ran my binos around the lake that I could pick out a lot of the guys in big blinds even thought they were good looking “camo or brush” they still stuck out from the endless cattails.

I bought a used pop up brand blind off of marketplace for my first boat. It was not the right size for my little old 14ft boat, I called pop up to get advice about how to fashion it and use on my boat. i could not believe how helpful they were!! They actually asked me to send pictures of what I was trying to do and called me back with comments on the camo pattern it had and how to fabricate it to get the best performance on my boat. Great people and company!!

Joel.....I LOVED this video. Thank you for combining 2 of my favorite things in this world, Waterfowl hunting and Forrest Gump. I saw the movie 12 times in the theaters when it came out in 1994. I am writing this with a huge smile on my face. I continue to hang on every word you say and will continue to watch every one of your videos. Thank you again from an ok waterfowl hunter in Central PA. I may not be a smart man, but I know good content when I see it.

Love that intro haha! Welcome back! I now hunt out of a 20 foot boat with custom blind. Always a work in progress, but when birds are flaring off the boat I’ll whip the kayak out and stash the boat. Or I’ll use the panel blind if I can find dry ground.

Best day of duck hunting ever, it rained so hard it flattened all the cattails around me and my buddy in my sparsely concealed 1436. We ended up just standing in the boat, in the open and ducks were dumping on us. There were guys that were all tricked out and blened in along the same mile. The encon told us we were the only ones in the birds. The birds were dropping in as we were tossing decoys out in the dark with head lamps on. You couldnt screw up that day if you tried.

Went duck hunting last week with a couple friends on public land here in Oklahoma. We were supposed to wade in and walk about a quarter mile to a spot my friend scouted the previous day. We were in the water by 0500 but soon as we waded in we were getting flashed by people who grabbed the spot. No big deal. We found a spot about 100 yards from where we we waded in and proceeded to build a blind out of a 12' by 54" cammo burlap I picked up from Atwoods the day before, dead wood and grass. We named it Fort DAFO. Not gonna lie I wasn't looking forward to hunting that day cause it was 20 degrees and I didn't get a lot of sleep the night before but something about building a fort changed my outlook. We only got a couple ducks, a mallard & a green winged teal but the guys who beat us to the spot we had originally scouted didn't get any.

DIY idea. Green plastic mesh fencing 4'×25' roll was $36. 5 or 6 5' wooden stakes, like $5/piece. If that. Weave grass, cat tails, etc into the netting, roll out, hammer in stakes, start hunting. A 25' blind accommodates 3 people comfortablly, can deploy a front and back like an A-frame or just the front with natural cover behind.

Man 8 guys in a blind? That's mind blowing for me as a Florida hunter! Other than maybe when it's a few guys left finishing their limit, does any one guy ever get to shoot at a bird by themselves? Or do multiple guys shoot at every bird that come in for the most part?

Man, I love your videos. The Forrest Gump bit was awesome. Any tips or tricks on how I can talk my mother inlaw into letting my brother inlaw and I to turn her party barge into a duck blind? Ive never thought of using it as a blind. In SE idaho we could only really use it for a few weeks anyways.
