You should consider the fact that in Russia, there are a lot of levels of artillery on different chains of command. MSTA-S uses long chain, Peony requires high command autorization for special payload, but stuff like Akatsiya is infantry-level, belongs to the unit it rolls with and bossed around on same level as any BMP it reinforces.

"Artillery is the god of war," said French General Jean Batiste Vaquet de Griboval. Especially 203mm with nuclear shells, you can't hide, you can't protect yourself. If they are closer than 40 km, just run, but you will still just die already tired. Artillery is not only 152-mm, but also 122-mm self-propelled amphibious guns. And 120-240-mm mortars, which are capable of throwing a 100-kiloton mine directly into your trench. If you can't knock them out first, you're already dead. And you can't, because there are too many air defense systems there. You can't suppress them with your artillery, because you haven't had anything like this for a long time, you relied too much on aviation.

Good video, but not 100% precise. Firstly, any battery has an organic supply section of two to three trucks (I've forgot exact number). Second, battery commander has a direct link with his battery FDC, he don't really need a battalion commander to translate his orders to his own battery. If a battery in a direct support with a company, the battery CP is only translating his orders to the battalion CP to keep it informed of it's actions, ammo comsumption and overall intelligence, and receive orders from it in case of, say, immediate concentrated fire of the battalion. Generally it's depends on plan of artillery employment which is called a fire plan (it's beyond the scope of just some preliminary barrages)

The germans make with the PZH 2000 the same mistake as with the Tiger tank in WW II: to complicated, to much repair intense and to build only in low numbers. What is the sense if one tiger can kill 5-10 T-34, but the russians had tens of thousands of them and the germans had maybe 2.500 tigers. The most of them not shot by T-34, but broke down by mechanical issues, lack of gasolin or enemies artillerie fire. Same problem today with PZH 2000 and many other western weapon systems. When you don't have an all powerful airforce, you need artillery. The German army used to field a lot of artillery too. They had a ratio of 1 artillery battalion for each 2 regular (Tanks & Mechanized Infantry) battalions, during the Cold War. Of course that was one of the first things to go when they made that idiotic shift towards a "peace keeping and nation building" army in the 90s. It will be interesting to see whether they will go back to something more sensible and capable now that they announced that they would "re-arm".

The Soviet Union is part of the Redfor faction and since it has a Support Tab, you can choose Artillery/MRLS/Mortars, etc so players who search guides look for tips and tricks regarding the use of the Support units, that's why I wrote "Write that down" because it isnt just a reference to Bob&Sponge but to the players (specially newbies) who are constantly learning on how to properly play Wargame:Red Dragon.
