Forgive a opinion: I yearn for the Tabernacle Choir from the 1970's and 1980's. It was a different choir of course, with a different version of excellence. To hear their stunning work from then, check these three albums: "The Great Thanksgiving: Hymns and Songs of Thanks and Brotherhood" "Rock of Ages: 30 Great Hymns," and "Voices in Harmony." The Rock of Ages album has "Guide Us O Thou Great Jehovah" sung with it original matchless majesty. There was deep potent base sung with _parts._ To hear this magisterial hymn sung in boring, artless _unison_ sends me into yearning for former years and the mentioned former albums. My gosh Mack Wiberg, harken back and do it again!

Cuando el coro vino a México, al Auditorio Nacional, me percaté que había músicos profesionales sentados por toda la sala!!! 😮 uno de ellos , se sentó atrás de mi, sinceramente puse mucha atención en todo lo que decía!!, porque sabía que no era miembro de la Iglesia, pero sí sabía de la buena música ..él habló sobre que conoció a Arturo Márquez un compositor mexicano conocido internacionalmente por ser el compositor de muchas obras musicales como “Danzón No.2”. Cuando dio inicio el concierto empezó a comentar técnicamente sobre la música, sobre las voces, conforme pasó el tiempo, dejó de hacerlo..y exclamaba wow! y dijo: es que ellos cantan con el corazón! en un par de canciones se empezó a reír con un tono de “estos bárbaros son muy buenos”!! 🤣 Yo sabía hacia donde el espíritu lo estaba dirigiendo..al final cantó con el coro! no dejaba de aplaudir de pie..y gritaba bravo!! bravo!! sin parar. Al voltear, quise buscarlo pero ya no lo vi.. Yo si estaba hecha un mar de lagrimas porque esa noche se cumplía uno de mi más viejos sueños desde mi niñez, poder escuchar a mi gran coro del “Tabernáculo Mormón” como los conocí aquel 1976 que predicaron los Elderes por primera vez a toda mi familia.. Solo doy gracias a Dios por la música, uno de los mejores dones del cielo, un don eterno.. Amo esta Iglesia por muchas razones, y la música y este coro son una de ellas. Gracias Tabernacle Choir!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
