GL made a mistake firing the late Michael Zaslow. Shame on them, especially after he was diagnosed with ALS!!!! OLTL, God bless them for having Michael come back as David Renaldi and writing his illness into the program so he had work to do because he loved it so much. RIP Michael, you will ALWAYS be Roger Thorpe, the man we all loved to hate.❤🙏😪

For me, the incredible Michael Zaslow was absolutely the GREATEST villain in daytime tv. Not to mention, he was a wonderful man off screen. As a teenager, I wrote a fan letter to him and to my surprise, I received an awesome signed photograph from him. A photograph I'll forever treasure. Michael was a kind, sweet, very dear man who cared about his fans. It truly broke my heart that he suffered from ALS. I always loved him on Guiding Light and missed him dearly. Daytime tv lost a true legend when Michael Zaslow passed on, and Guiding Light was never the same without him. R.I.P. to the GREAT Michael Zaslow. ❤️❤️🥰🥰😇😇🙏🙏

Wow that's so cool. They were my favorite TV couple since I was in grade school. Years later I got to meet the actress that played Dr Rene that helped Roger. I was working at a hotel where she was a guest.

My favorite soap villain ever, and it was all because of MZ's intense and impassioned portrayal, and his chemistry with Maureen--WOW. I was devastated when he died, especially because the same disease had just taken my grandmother. He deserved so much more. ALS is the worst.

The fact that Guiding Light had Roger and Holly and Josh and Reva on the same show blows my mind.. These couples are night and day total different universes . Bravo to the writers. WOW

This was Guiding Light for me! When I think back when it was at its greatest this time period is when the Light shined the brightest! The acting, the writing and character driven stories was must see TV! Roger, Holly,Buzz,Jenna and Bloss was what made me tune in each week.

Same here! This was the *best* period of the show, from beginning of 1993 to mid-1994. There was something really special going on with the writing, those 6 characters and the actors who played them.

As an actor Kim zimmer should have stood up and said, “either spin Reva off in her own show or allow equal time to the rest of the cast”. She didn’t and ultimately her character really destroyed GL. Another gift from the Texas team that took over when Marland quit.

Roger is one person that can say anything and it doesn't make sense, but it's okay cause everyone understands where Roger is coming from! This man is just driven with lust, passion, love and such a strong force to be with his ever loving Holly! When he looks at her I just melt! Holly is so fighting her feelings for Roger! I see where she comes from with how stable Ed is compare to the roller coaster with Roger! Roger is exciting! MZ and MG are on fire with their chemistry!

This was the episode that finally got Michael that well deserved Daytime Emmy. I didn't watch until 1995 with Matt & Vanessa but God he was so brilliant!. Poor Maureen Garrett, it looked like she was about to break down and cry.

Roger was in such pain over everything that happened. Being Fired from Spaulding, seeing Holly "with" Ed and he may have felt that he was once again a Failure. He may have been down but not out.

Marcel Parker you are so right on. No matter what the Circumstance was, Roger and Ed always somehow bickered over Holly.

I love, love, love this scene. When Roger isn't being the passive-aggressive manipulator and jealous monster, there is so much longing and adoration of Holly in his eyes. And Holly... You can see the pain in hers at exactly what Roger nailed about her--all her anguish came from being ashamed of loving such a horrible man. Nobody could get to Holly like Roger. It takes an incredible actor to convey so much with only the eyes. These two made it look so effortless.

Another person who made me cry was when I saw Anette Funicello when she was practically at Death's Door on The Canadian News Program W5 (It's kind of like the 60 Minutes Of Canada). I'll tell you one thing, when you are Drunk you don't think rationally and you can be very cruel and not even realize it. Roger was so spot on about Holly and what he called her on. They Made Love and 13 Years ago he raped her.

Isn't this a blip! Roger wails about Ed "Reassembling" his Domestic Relationships and Roger does the "Same" thing. With the exception of Leslie Jackson Bauer, Roger always caused "chaos" in Ed's Marriages. Holly, Rita, and although Maureen tried her best to be a Friend to him, he didn't work out.

@laminage6 жыл бұрын
I was so suprised when Maureen Garrett came out and in the UK there's a Soap Actress named Michelle Hardwick on a show named Emmerdale who is Gay in real life as well as on the show. I told UK Soap Fans about US Soap Actors/Actresses who are in The Closet and they were stunned.

In the sense that he raped her and was obsessed with her? Yes. They also had intense, unrivaled chemistry. But unlike L&L, the rape truly came between Roger and Holly to the point that they couldn’t have a functional relationship until decades later. Holly behaved like a woman truly traumatized by what happened and didn’t let him get away with or rationalize what he did to her. She was even frightened of being in a locked room with him alone and would flashback to what he did. And because Holly could never forget what he did to her, neither could Roger… That love and hatred were always at war with each other and Roger was forced to deal with the ramifications of the woman he loved never completely trusting him again. I think it was far more realistic to handle it like that than what GH did. But they did have that supercouple vibe the same way.

Yeah, but better because they where Holly & Roger on GL 😉

Isn't it eerie now that you think about it. Lillian indirectly caused Ed Bauer his Marriage not to mention his Death while Beth slept with Rick Bauer and caused his Marriage to Mel to go down the drain. Like Mother/Like Daughter. Didn't Beth learn from what her Mother did. Why couldn't Lillian tell Beth to stay away from Rick.
@nicoleackerman2053 жыл бұрын
She did but Lillian was such a hypocrite why would anyone listen to her.
