After that first storyline, none of the regimes ever really knew how to write for Matt and Vanessa - tho the Tess/Robert storyline was a nice reprieve. But this regime (Paul Rauch/James Harmon Brown and Barbara Esensten) made a total mess of the show as a whole, actively changing a lot of characters for the sake of plot (and you know, the clone 🤦‍♀😂). The show never fully recovered after that. And then Ellen Wheeler just put the final nail in the coffin. The way she broke up Matt and Vanessa made zero sense, and was beyond out of character, so of course their endings felt equally illogical. I don't know how I kept watching til the end, but I did. Tho I still block out most of the film school years, haha. And for my own sanity, I consider Matt and Vanessa leaving in 2000 as their endgame canon 😊
