For Guild fans, the Guild D-55 is THE classic top-class dreadnought. It was first produced as a custom shop order in 1968 and, after years of great success and strong demand, was added to the standard range in 1974. For decades, the Guild D-55 has been used by many well-known artists as a stage and studio instrument. Including Timmy Smothers (Smothers Brothers Show), Waylon Jennings, Billy Joe Armstrong and David Nail. With the re-launch of this model in 2017, the D-55 returns stronger than ever!
Its dreadnought body features best Sitka spruce and East Indian rosewood for a voluminous, powerful and clear sound. The multi-piece neck made of mahogany and a central strip made of walnut is very comfortable to hold thanks to its slim C-profile. The saddle width of 43mm makes quick chord changes child's play. An ebony fretboard features classic abalone and mother-of-pearl "V-blocks" and white binding with "Railroad Track" purfling. Other highlights are the characteristic headstock and the soundhole rosette with an abalone ring. This high-quality instrument is of course delivered in an appropriate "Guild Premium Humidified Archtop Wood Case"!
