**7.15.2021 Update** First off, thanks for watching. I had no idea that my videos would gain any sort of following. I initially did this as a side thing during the Covid 19 Pandemic as I had a lot of free time off from my job. I took up learning Video Editing Using a free program (DaVinci Resolve) and I enjoyed editing so much that I decided to make GW2 videos for my friends and Guildies. Mirage and Renegade/Herald with the right build is invincible. And it applied for all contents. The reason why most people uses Trailblaizer Gears is that it helps you survive while soloing Legendary Mobs/Bounties and some Meta Event Bosses. If you watch Lord Hizen you should know why he chooses to go more defensive with a decent dps. I am playing a Rene/Herald Trailblazer (FULL) and with that much toughness and vitality I still deal more than 11k dps while soloing Bosses, same goes for Mirage.

Both Condi Rev and Condi Scourge is my PvE main. But Condi Herald/Renegade with full trailblazer and tormenting rune is better than Scourge in my opinion since you can solo high level fractal bosses with it. Still Scourge is way easier to play.

What a great video.. You took time to make it and it was worth it. I'm still getting the hang of scourge. I know it can do well but the style gets boring for me at times since you're just casting spells on the ground and wait for things to die. But after seeing you using the "Spectral Grasp" that looks like the game changer for me. Because with scourge, it is very annoying to "CHASE" enemies.

Truth be told there is nothing bad with going full trailblazer Or mix like half of it in Your main damage is condi anyway and there it is nearly identical Scourge/necro is one of the few classes you can get away with going full zerker/viper and still have decent survivability But most other players on othee classes dont get it - it does not matter if you can do lots of damage if you cannot stay on your feet And thats not a matter of skill; if you are better at the game and your class you can stay alive longer but there is always a limit And pure damage builds are nearly always spected for group content; never towards solo play And thats the reason why this is so awesome

Great video. Here's my two cents and a little bit of resistance: Parasitic Contagion is solid against a ton of trash, but not so awesome against single targets even when you're pumping out tons of condi. Barrier is only awesome if you _make_ it awesome by sacrificing other desirable choices. The CDs on manifest, cascade and shroud aren't bad, but they're long enough that some care needs employment. While I'm not complaining, the CDs are probably where they should be, this simply means at the end of the day other builds do have a slight leg up on easy mode sustain and situational 'not-on-cd' response abilities. ((Edit: nvm, about parasitic Cont. I see you're not running that, you're getting your hots from torm rune.)) Though it's not a giant problem that can't be worked around, I don't like scourge's fundamental concept of pairing torment with shades. At the heart of the class, you're simultaneously encouraged AND _discouraged_ to kite. Doable, but it really undermines the overall "feel/flow" of the class. For challenging content I usually go raid-boss base necro build and camp shroud. Being a low-stab build, the only time this doesn't work is if I'm getting more than 3 interrupts a second in conjunction with heavy hits. Like that time two vet canids showed up on Leg Olori. :p ...Granted, this build only does moderate dmg but is actually enough for most open world scenarios and only has timer issues in the most singular of cases. Also, if one of your aims is to never waste time popping a heal skill, you might try running sig o vampirism. Unless you just want that higher hitting 'oh shit' button. All that said, I've been sufficiently inspired to screw around a bit more with scourge. I used to play scourge a lot but have leaned toward base/reaper a lot lately. (Sidebar: Somebody has to inform the entire game's player base that you don't have to stay in melee for exploiter. Just get the buff and move back out. It lasts a good while. I seem to be the only player I've seen who understands this and I'm a trash-ass idiot, so c'mon folks.) ;)

I just recently switched from reaper to scourge exactly because of durability issue, glad to see i didnt wasted materials to switch the stats. The only problem i still have is the accessories...most of those or alternative ones require a lot of currency from LW

Hello, sorry for the late response. For solo scenarios I don't recommend using Blood is Power and Plague Sending. The reason is because Blood is Power can mess up your Nefarious Favor (F2) skill when cleansing conditions. Plague Lands Trait helps with this but you lose out on Insidious Disruption (Scourge has a lot of disables readily available). You also need to use Blood is Power twice for efficiency, locking you in an awkward state if something disables you. Last Reason is because Blood is Power yields no Life Force. Scourge needs a lot of Life Force to maintain Sand Shades, that is why I opt for Desiccate instead. I use Ghastly Breach instead of Plague Lands because it has a lower cooldown, boon conversion, and gives might stacks. It also is a Punishment Skill so it will proc Sadistic Searing Trait. Plague Lands will deal more damage overall if the enemy stays in the damage zone.

Life Force scales with Vitality so increases Vitality is a solid, quick solution. If you don't want to go that route I usually switch Desiccate for Signet of Undeath for the passive Life Force Generation. Scepter (3) gives a decent chunk of Life Force and Torch (4) gives Life Force depending on how many targets it hit. Last, Spectral Grasp gives a ton of Life Force for grabbing 2+ enemies.

It may require some tweaking. The recovery of Rune of Tormenting got nerfed hard. It's still ok, but it's not the clearly best in slot rune it was. Parasitic Contagion got nerfed as well so the overall self healing that allowed this build to run otherwise glass canon may need to be reconsidered. There are a number of other options to play around with though. I'm personally running my regular viper armor with Rune of Nightmare, Viper Scepter and Torch (or dagger) with Torment/Bursting sigils, and Trailblazer Staff with Energy/Cleansing sigils, Trailblazer neck, back, and rings, and viper accessories. So far I haven't found anything I could solo prior to the nerfs that I can't still handle. If the damage gets real go with a minion scourge build and switch in blood and death magic with the default over land pet loadout to really maximize your self healing and tankyness. And if you just wanna go full tank, go ahead and put together a trailblazer setup with Rune of Undead. You can also run a dagger mainhand on your backbar. The 2 skill is a pretty significant heal on demand, but you're going to sacrifice damage when on the main hand dagger bar. TLDR: Overall this video is still accurate for demonstrating the playstyle and capabilities of scourge, but the loss of sustain with the Torment and Parasitic Contagion nerf may require you to evaluate your build a bit and include pieces of those defensive sets the video states you do not need.

Sorry for the late response. As Jefferson mentioned, you can use any rune that gives condition damage/duration. You'll miss out on the additional Life Steal but have more damage. You can remedy this by always taking Parastic Contagion trait instead of Devouring Darkness.

great guide, but scourge necro in general has conditions unique to it's class with the same condition based weapons that ele mesmer guardian would get and more , that said, with harbinger, scourge can burst torment for upwards of 50k on 1shroud skill 5. then continue to another 50k in a matter of seconds on sceptor torch and a single punishment skill, the only variance with minimal might stacks. utilizing a single condition to burst is what scourge excells at, heh n ppl cry about lack of burn or other condis. this build has 10 sources of torment bursting before weapon swapping(4 of which are punishment skills) no other class has 10 ways of duration reapplication of a single condition in this manner. scourge can inflict torment infinitely. as your sand shades expire, your utilities are off cooldown n vice versa even if using harbinger shroud::::rinse repeat:::: there's always torment on the target, ideally if there's sand shades up. condi cleansing is nothing fighting a scourge. scourge is both a stronger minion mancer due to 3 extra shades, and a deathshroud necro due to "barrier." scourge becomes stronger in respect, but still in it's true form. those that would otherwise complain or compare its condition s afflictions to say burn guardian would be idiots, but to torment would be wise - no other class excells at torment.

I agree! Scourge has the easiest ways to apply Torment to multiple targets, making it one of the strongest solo classes out there. Not only is it strong but it can easily "farm enemies/events" due to having the ability to attack from different areas and angles at once.

Minions are a great way to survive solo open world. Parasitic Contagion and proper condition application isn't for everyone but the beauty of Necromancer is that the class is built for solo scenarios.

Hey there, sorry for the late response. Condition Damage is generally a late game build. Early Condition builds lake the stat Expertise. Expertise increases condition duration and a majority of condition damage comes from stacking conditions on top of more conditions. If your conditions expire before you add more ontop, they will deal low-mediocre damage. I recommend using a Power build to level up then switching over to Condition. If you really love condition damage and enjoy leveling up with it, you can use Dire gear and build for bleeding duration, use Scepter/Dagger.

No you do not. I personally use staff just for the Utility. Staff is great when open world soloing as it has access to a variety of utilities including Fear and a Condition Transfer. Primarily for Scourge you're just using on weapon set (Scepter/Torch) 90% of the time. A lot of people like to use Dagger off hand swap in order to continue stacking bleeding with Scepter Autos.

Tell this to my guardian. It can do a lot of damage in both power and condi specs but he is squishy AF and can take literally no damage in face at all not even from veteran lvl mobs in HoT or PoF locations (esp in bloodstone maw or bitterfrost frontier) I have full viper and full berserker half exotic/ascended gear and compare to my necro its ridiculously pathetic (in same gear). It is so squishy garbage that i actually forced to use other class in dlc locations to farm even if i very much enjoy utility of guardian. So as guardian your skill mean literally nothing to mobs that hits you for 1/4 of your hp with every hit. Its out of my mind how fucking paladin in HEAVY armor can be two-three times more squishy then wever aka weak mage in fucking rags with same stats gear. What's even a point in heavy armor then?

@@misterv2899 to be fair atleast in its current state (as weaver main for PvP and PvE) i feel more like weaver can be played as hard dps or Immortal tank with some condis bursting/fire weaver. I guess its well definitely a difference between having 26 skills to utilize buffs defensive and offensive abilitities then by having 10 max with both weps ofc not to leave out the 5 utility skills every class has. And imo the Tankyness of weaver is sorta a reward for playing the piano on your Keyboard since most likely if u dont know what youre doing youll just die again and again... I love soloing group content with it even managed to pop one raid solo.

Hey! Support Scourge is great, I have a build template I use frequently for World Bosses with it. There are already plenty of Support Scourge videos out there though so I don't know if I could add anymore to them.

How does it compare to revenant? I want to play both solo and in groups (raids/fractals). Really doubting between necromancer and revenant...

i play revenant renegade in pve and it has a lot of AoE with high dps and self healing. i haven't done raids but it does amazing in solo open world pve stuff. and the combat is really fun too so i'd recommend u give it a shot

Sorry for late reply. Renegade is generally more accepted in Raids and Fractals because of the insane damage they do.

@@silkyonyen9223 Out of curiosity, do you lose a lot of dps, using tormenting runes over for example lich runes? And do you require different weapon sigils? Ideally I want to use the same viper set for fractals and my solo play? I also want to try and solo a fractal which is why the additional sustain would be welcome I guess but if the cost of dps is too high that it affects group play, I guess I have to build a second set? Have you tried this by any chance and do you run different sigils with tormenting runes?

Well, in WvW, generally if you are a ranged character you can beat Necros easily. Regular SPvP? Good luck capping those points lol.

Same stats not the actaual items. The item themselves don't mean sht , you just need the stats.

Hey thanks for watching and sorry for this late response. The Items I use are all Viper's Gear (Major Stats in Power, Condition Damage. Minor Stats in Precision and Expertise), and Two Rings that are are Sinister (Major Stat Condition Damage, Minor Stat in Power and Precision). The reason why I take Two Sinister Rings is because it helps me hit above 50% Critical Hit Rate with traits included. I use Superior Rune of Tormenting primarily for the 6th effect that adds great sustain. The Weapon Sigils I use are Superior Sigil of Torment for added AoE Torment application on critical hits and Superior Sigil of Bursting for more Condition Damage. That's basically all there is to the gear. I also made a short guide on Viper Scourge as one of my first videos if you need more information.

condi scourges are the lowest DDs in organized pve? what the hell have you been smoking, that's as incorrect as incorrect can get the only things that can *consistently* keep me below #1 on the pump charts are the 1 button rifle mech and the 1 button bladesworn (assuming*** they hit their dragon slashes) and condi untamed but i've ever only seen somebody play that ONCE

Maybe! in group play but solo as Viper Scourge requires you to manage the low Life Force pool you have efficiently.

I think Necromancer and it's elite specs are pretty balanced. It may not be the strongest damage wise but it is the class that excels at solo play.
