For anyone thinking why the heck does the undead pirate ship have giant claws on it? It is because in lore, Orr was once a human kingdom which the Charr also invaded when breaking through Ascalon. The kings advisor of Orr needed a miracle, he went into the Catacombs of Orr capital city Arah and read a scroll from the fallen human dark god Abaddon which put Orr under the water and corrupted the kingdom with undead and torment creatures, however Abaddon was dealt with the torment claws remain.

I'm not bashing anyone, I'm just stating my opinion on what the profession looks like to me. Just because the rest of us still playing WoW enjoy the game and dont- want-to-play/can't-play wow clones (rift, swtor) and other mmo's (GW2, Aion), doesn't mean you have to treat us like dirt.

when a character goes into a lower level area, their level is brought down to that level while they are there. Therefore all dungeons will still be runnable at any level, and there is a challenge mode of every dungeon where there are random things that could happen and certain areas of the dungeon are opened up to you and its generally ALOT harder.

I just love that feature turning your staff into a shadowy scythe while casting. I really hope they'll keep that effect, it kicks ass.

Just a little add on to my old paragraph. The main antagonist in GW2 (Zhaitan which is one of the five elder dragons) when he/she woke up he brought Orr back above the water. With his/her powers Zhaitan controlled the corrupt and undead Orrians. With that power he ordered them to attack Tyria.

The items that do give you an advatnage ( experience boosters ) can also be obtained in the game without paying for gems. These items are most commonly given out randomly when you 100% an area.

Ye, that simplification, as well as the simplification of skills, which, as stated by devs, will be determined by attribute branches really makes this game both easy to master and variable in gameplay

The dialogue in this is just priceless, especially once the flamethrower comes out. "Oh, that looks like a corrupted plant, let's barbecue this thing. 'Do not press' PRESS. Oh my god, I'm on fire. It was a joke - between a Necro's large HP pool, Life Drain and Death Shroud a Necro is -very- hard to kill. This is especially true with Dual Daggers and a Blood Fiend out. It has the most Life Force Regen and Life Drain capability for a Necro.

@superscope27 IN GW2 the world is not instanced, the whole world is persistent apart from dungeons which are basically raids. The dungeons are for the people who like challange modes in groups, every dungeon has 4 versions of it so there are basically 8 dungeons in the game but because of 4 versions of each its basically 32 dungeons. So yeah, you can run around the whole world and play with other people. Hope that was the answer your looking for.

I know this is an old video, and someone has probably already addressed it. But I believe AreaNet said that the amount of experience you need to level up does not change. Experience you need to get from level 1 to level 2 = experience you need to get from level 30 to level 31.

@IkarusKommt 1. Combat is actually supposed to be fairly fast-paced and fluid. Some people (like in the video) are used to the standard point-click-stand fighting. There's probably a lot more movement and strategy involved if you choose to do so, especially if you're a ranged class. 2. This is gameplay from a gaming conference, there are hardly any other players in the server and so it can't properly display how many people will actually be in 1 server/world at one time.

yes he did because its a beta test. they want you to try out the high levels and see what its like on the beta. but when the game actually releases it will take way more then one day to reach level 56

If you noticed, at the beginning he said it was at "euro gamer expo 2011". so Im guessing they have a demo computer you can play the game on, but not mess with software (like installing screen recording programs). So the next best thing was to set up their camera and just film it.

The event system looks like an incredibly well polished version of Warhammer Onlines public quests, which is an awesome thing, because public quests were a great idea, but really badly implemented by Mythic. Apologies if earlier games had done something similar.

Well, I'd imagine there will be crowds at launch. However, you can avoid them by picking a lower population server, opting to stay on an overflow shard (if you get placed there), simply going to another starting zone (there will be 5) or just doing something else (personal story, WvW, PvP, exploration) while the majority of the people spread out a bit (The zones are huge, so there will definitely be places with less people around.)

@StickAndMove18 Another thing, they "hand-crafted" the enviornment so it won't be as big as you might think. If you can run GW1 on high, you can run this on mid settings.

@RayRai8262 Actually there are around 34 different dungeons throughout Guild wars 2 at launch, each `dungeon` has a number of different path ways through it. One of the developers said it at pax.

I played an elementalist with four "playstyles". All of them were the same, spam 1-5 and heal occasionally, and then once 2-5's cooldowns end, use them again. Same thing for every class I played.

It's not so much that the game plays itself as it is you don't really control the game. In single-player games, nothing happens unless you do it, and in lots of MMOs you have to start quests and dungeons to get things going. GW2 is very dynamic and has an ever-changing world around the players, making things more exciting and giving it a get-up-and-go feeling. I feel it doesn't make it boring, but instead kills off the usual monotonous grinding that games like this usually have.

Because Sylvari are new to the world and are fascinated by death as they do not understand it and are curious about it and its nature as they do not have much of experience with it. (I can recommend you book called Ghosts of Ascalon)

Actually you misunderstood, sorry I'll be more clear. I myself don't spend money on this, I was just pointing reasons behind buying stuff at the store. Also, not having a monthly subscription makes things easier for some to buy extras. I like customization and think its a good thing, but I wouldnt spend my money on it. Also, I was trying to inform you that the game doesnt create unbalanced players when people pay, it's not a pay to win game, so that is a plus for people like us that don't pay ;)

there's alot of people who just click through quests. most of them are the PvP-oriented players. i agree about the SWTOR quest narration. i enjoyed and watched them until the conversation and the player's response started to recycle themselves. i ended up spamming spacebar when i'm not doing the class quest. GW2 is also doing the "player's choice" on their story quest. these decisions affect the progression of your story. you will get different quest progressions depending on your choices.
