Wonderful performance! It's a fun piece--hard, but great fun. (I know it best in the form for organ alone, having played it a couple of times in recitals.) The musical materials in both versions are the same, just decorated more in the organ-and-orchestra version.

@@organist1982 yes, I only knew the organ version until now. That's why I was surprised, because the organ solo piece is awesome by itself

​@helenas.6383 While the organ version is more than capable of standing on its own, I think it's good to have an organ and orchestra version as well. Personally, I think we need a larger body of literature for organ and orchestra as well as organ and wind band.

@@helenas.6383 I'm not certain, but I think the organ-and-orchestra version may have been composed first, and then Guilmant may have then "transcribed" it for organ solo. I could probably search on Wikipedia, but I'm too lazy right now...

Correction, the solo organ version is titled as a "sonata." The organ and orchestra version is titles as a "symphony."
