Maybe it's just an overwhelming feeling of power instead of pain? I mean it would make me wonder why the digimon would want so desperately to digivolve in the first place if it was that much of a painful experience. The tamers digimon specifically. Where other digimon would digivolve and stay in those forms until it was time for them to digivolve again, which seemed like the natural way, the tamers digimon would return back to their rookie forms and then digivolve over and over again when they needed to. Sometimes going even further in desperate times. I don't ever remember them mentioning that digivolving was painful.

Adventure is essentially fiction to Tamers. Tamers is POV series of what it would be like if Digimon were living beings irl, no chosen child bs, No Sentient Toy plot device conveniences, no silly return from death via power of friendship, none of that non-sense fiasco. Reason why Tamers is the best Digimon series there is. Less Fantasy and more Pragmatic

I think it was the contrary, cgi on this time was expensive, so it was only used on main characters (agumon, gabumon, v-mon, guilmon) to give it a more "digital" feeling, now its cheaper, the evolution

Basically, yes. One of the points of this season was to involve the tamers more in the combat. They had two ways: by using cards to empower their digimon temporarily and by eventually fusing with their digimon to get to Mega level. This depended on their connection to the digimon. The closer they were, the less valuable the cards became and the more powerful their digimon became naturally. This then culminated in the Matrix evolution.

For digimon tamers, the main cast only achieves mega forms when fused with their digimon. The only exception is marineangemon who was mega level.

Why does Takato say "cho shinka" while the first card slash and Guilmon digivolves only to Growlmon and not Metalgrowlmon and then Takato says "matrix evolution" and Growlmon says "Growlmon shinka" instead of "Growlmon cho shinka"? Why is it different from the Adventure? =D

It's the name of the card, Chou Shinka Plug-In S is the card in the TCG that is used to evolve child-level digimon to adult-level digimon. digimon.wikia.com/wiki/Card:Digi-Modify

You are right. Chou Shinka Plug-In S should be used for Perfect/Ultimate Evolution(Ultimate/Mega Digivolution). But in real world, the card effect may not perform 100% well, so you should use a more powerful card. So they use Chou Shinka Plugin-In S to Adult Evolution(Champion Digivolution).
