Only a gentleman as kind as you would feel guilt about these instances. You're the best!

Oh Peter, sometimes in the haste of the moment I, too, don't make the best choice. But I try to recognize the feeling as "regret" which helps me resolve to do better next time. I save real "guilt" for the times when I deliberately do something to hurt another person. Try not to be too hard on yourself, because you have a beautiful soul.

Being that you are able to feel guilt makes you better than most people alive today. Having a conscience is a rare thing any more. Keep worrying, Peter. Keep feeling guilty. It means you still have a soul left.

This is so sweet. It's nice to see your genuine concern for the well being of strangers. I think you did your best regarding the lost tourists and Australians are a hardy bunch so I'm sure they got there in the end. :)

Sometimes I am feeling guilty because I want to be helpful to someone, but send them in a wrong direction because I am confusing street names. It haunts me the whole day because they might think I did it on purpose. But as long as we mean well, we should let go of guilty feelings because everyone can be confused or asked for directions just in the wrong second when our mind is not really there. You tried to help and you didn't just walk away, that's very nice already! Thanks for your videos!

Your comment shows real sensitivity. Don't be too hard on yourself. If that's your biggest "sin" your more advanced than the majority of Humanity. On second thought judging from other comments regarding this video the world is full of nice people. Keep up the good work!

You are a good man, and have nothing to feel guilty about. I do however understand your feelings about it. I think it happens to most of us. We act or we neglect to act in the moment, and then afterwards when going through the event in our head, we find that there was a better approach that could have been taken.I believe that it is part of being human, and learning through our experiences. The fact that you think about it, and feel remorse that you did not act your very best shows a lot.

I know it's too late to say it, but you really had a golden heart. I'm not saying this because of any stereotype, but it is known that most elderly people aren't really that calm and thoughtful and most times they believe they're always right. What surprises me about you is that you were, despite the age and the stereotypes about it, a very honest man. You even decided to make a video with a certain humor (that really made me laugh) with a young man. It feels bad to know that you are not here with us anymore, but it also feels amazing to know that someone like you existed

I feel I understand and I do have empathy for how you feel regarding the incidents. If your phone has GPS maybe you could have brought up a map of the location to show the tourists. Myself, I would have just taken them in my car to wherever it is. And yes, if one has the money to spare and a person in line in front of you hasn't enough to pay, just shove the needed money into the clerk's hand. Then everybody wins. I've been that person who was short on money before.

That's what makes you a good person. You're thoughtful and reflect on experiences and how you could have done them different. You have NO reason to feel guilty... you're a good man. :) But... whatever friend told you that your google hang out was rubbish should be feeling guilty. :)

Sometimes we all do things out of character when we are stressed.Your friend clearly upset you re the video & your mind was probably in another place. You're a good kind person Peter please don't be so hard on yourself. You're 86 years old on 20th August & are embracing technology that others give up on at the first hurdle -so well done. We all do things that, on reflection,we later regret, but it's the intent that's important, you didn't intend to be uncaring to the Australians.Forgive yourself.

What is that old adage? "Bad people never feel guilty" (Or something to that effect.) This happens to me too, but you have to think about the positive side of life. You did indeed confirm for those ladies that they were on the correct road; maybe the next person they asked knew exactly where to go? Concerning the lady in the store: next time that happens you will remember & perhaps will not be as shy to give. You are only human though. And you are a good person *because* of the guilt you feel.

You hit it Peter Guilt! I have that problem also. Like every time I talk to anyone. Have no idea why this is. But when it happens I think Jer your 70 years old! You could have Some rare form of Memory loss, I could be Dreaming, I don't know where the car is, did I bring the car? I look at a tree and say did it just move? And then I just go on since I forgot what it was the person wanted. If none of that works I Bark. Then the person runs away.

In California we have a slag word called "flake" or the verb form "to flake" It translates to the (hopefully) forgivable sin of neglecting something you should do out of forgetfulness. In a sentence: "I promised Molly I was going to take her shopping after the game, but I totally flaked" In this case you could have called the tourist's destination but you "Flaked"

Look at this way - you informed them they were on the right road which means it saved them getting lost and going off the trail. You actually helped them considerably by providing that vital piece of information. Did you have any deeper regrets in life - things perhaps you wish, at one time, you would have done which could have changed the course of your life? I do have a few of my own - a past girlfriend, failed investments etc..

I don't think what you did, or didn't do, should make you feel very guilty. We know you are a good person, which is why you have the impulse to feel such guilt in the first place. Forgive yourself, please! Loving the videos in the USA colonies!

I have a fleeting moment of guilt in those situations, then I think je ne regrette rien. I did pass the supermarket test though about 3 weeks ago. A Chinese girl in front of me did not have enough money and put back one item, but she was still 20p short, so I gave her 20p.

I wouldn't feel too guilty about the examples you mentioned, especially not about the tourists looking for the B&B. You told them everything you knew and if the thought of calling the place for them didn't occur to you until later, well that's not your fault.

No point in feeling guilty about it, you didn't think of it at the time but you would have done so had you thought of it and that's what counts. Most people wouldn't even think of it after the fact in order to feel guilty about it. They'd just give them the bums rush and be done with it. Remember Peter, Nobuddy's Prefect.

The person who took your money should not have taken it and instead politely declined or repaid you straight after. As for the Australians, they should of equipped themselves for the journey. What is the point of going to the expense of travelling 1/2 way round the planet and leaving yourself short of a street map etc so you can find your way around?
