I personally believe that we are not going to get XRD characters in the base roster because of two reasons. One I think what Arc is doing with Strive is to make a revamped roster of classic characters from the first game and X. Another reason is alot of xrd's characters have already been in 2 to 3 games except Answer who was only in rev 2. But that is just my opinion but idk maybe Arc will throw a curve ball with this next reveal after the beta which would be cool

I love the new mechanics and moves, I can see a lot of crazy stuff coming from the afro thingie. The only thing I'm unhappy with is the removal of Stimulating Fists of Annihilation. That was pretty much Faust's signature move, it's heartbreaking to see it gone. Still, I'm definitely trying him out when the game comes out.

What about his other overdrive , the one where faust bumps into the enemy to protect a clover, and then tries to help the oponent with a wheelchair but instead rams it into their leg instead, Arcsys even made unique reactions for all the characters to it. Gues it wasnt ready for the trailer. Wish they could update this showcase, still good stuff

I wouldn't call him exactly a "joke character" since his backstory and character itself are pretty serious and his backstory is even kinda dark, while most joke characters are mainly characters that are there just for jokes and usually don't do anything important in the main story like the neco-arcs in MB

As the "serious backstory", let's face it, Guilty Gears is just another convoluted anime story that makes no sense (it's like Nomura, Motomu, Kojima and many others, they have a fetish with messy and over complicated plots and characters)

Consecutive throws of items without needing for the item to be consumed or activated seems to be a pretty big change.

@ No, I mean look at 2:43 He already had a thrown doll out, throws a trumpet that only activates when players pick it up, then throws out a donut, yet another pick up item. That's not his super, but a manual back to back toss. Previously lingering items needed to be consumed for a second toss to come out barring mini faust. Hence why helium was one of the most frustrating items to toss out in rev 2.

It doesn't have collision coming down from the speed of it and it activates with delay via proximity or aggression instead of being a persistent grounded projectile. meaning that it's very hard to just leave it there as a zoning tool. If it has Nappa's Saibamen like tracking or multiple attacks, it's gonna be great through. Bomb's probably a buff. If you can reliably knock and push opponents and bombs back to not get blown to smithereens, it's bound to be a good combo tool. I like the banana, although I need to see the interaction it has with FD. If the pushback from FD is enough to screw you over after eating the banana, then it's gonna be annoying. Also, I didn't see Faust's OTG options in the trailer so who knows what giving the opponent the peel would be like. If the Stimulating Fist gets put in, it might be good as an easy conversion? Afro's great. Faust is already so tall that him eating it doesn't really mean much and others eating it is obviously a debuff, so great. Meteor seems tighter and super fast, which I like. I'm a potemkin main, but I likely will pick up Faust in Strive. I never liked his pogo conversions but now that's gone, he seems far easier to play. I dig it.

@@HellecticMojo Thank you very much for the synopsis. I skipped Faust in Xrd for about the same reasons, but I'm going to see if I can get the hang of this one. These character trailers have been fun to think about. Honestly, Chipp and Potemkim are going to be my guys with Faust being a third. It was great to talk with you.
