Real live Ellen here! The whole Ellen section was making me crack up! I’m 28 and I used to joke when I was young that I was the last dying Ellen because all the other Ellen’s I knew were older and young Ellen’s didn’t exist. Growing up I never really loved Ellen (I tolerate it now), but do like the nicknames associated with it (Elle, Ellie, Ella). I don’t correct people if they call me Ellen, it’s my professional name now, but anyone close to me will call me Elle.

can we talk about how Netflix loves to make a young female lead choose between 2 guys where the 1st guy is always some white dude who is obsessive/possessive of her and the 2nd guy (who usually understands her more, helps her grow and is usually cuter-lets be real) is a person of color? specifically a racially ambiguous man of color? (which is a whole other thing) and she never choses the 2nd guy? Happens here, To all the boys and even freakin Tall Girl 2!? (i only watched a recap of that one but yea) whats up with that Netflix?! Even in mainstream movies like Twilight (Jacob v. Edward) for what it’s worth: I feel like Netflix is at least trying with movies like Lovebird, even Princess Switch but for the most part I agree we don’t see a lot of healthy interracial relationships onscreen, or just poc actors in general. But thankfully I feel like we’re making progress compared to back in my day! 👵🏽
