These birds are from Africa, as a child in the Caribbean. I kept them as pets. They will wake you up every morning, and keep the yard bug free. My neighbor had over 40 fat birds. Great cooking!

Interesting cooking methods, a step back to a simpler time. Reminds me of Pap and Granny's back in the day. They had guinea fowl; you know the blue are normally dark meat and the white, or pearl, are usually a lighter meat. They make good alarms too. Anything unusual and they will let you know by their loud pot-racking.

Mine also. My grandmother did not have an indoor bathroom and honestly did not want one (1960s). I grew up wringing chicken necks, making soap outdoors and using lye soap with her. Had a huge garden. I learned a lot from her and loved every minute of it.
