I love the brewdog stout, my only criticism would be the head on it disappears pretty quick, however i do love the slight chocolate taste coming through, forged i havent tried unfortunately.

Although I do agree with you on there may be a batch issue (recently got some again, don't seem as flavoursome), you poured the Black Heart wrong. The nitro surge in the can only works if you pour it upside down, which is why it settled in seconds. It even says how to pour it on the side of the can.

Had the same problem pouring tins of Belhaven Black. I presumed, wrongly, that I needed to pour it the same as the Guinness? Some pressurised and some didn't.

@@AngryCabCustomer I live in Ireland and you can get it easily enough here but it’s not everywhere either , it retains a nice malty flavour and has a better mouthfeel than Guinness draft from cans . No need for silly devices either

The inconsistency with black heart is barbaric, I’ve had a good few cans come out completely flat, I just gave up.. the forge is a easy drink, enjoyable stout I’d be keen to try it on draught. Guinness is what it is, I’m a huge Guinness drinker but very fussy, and the cans are just a no go for me, even those nitro surge cans are inconsistent

I can agree that the Guinness Original is far superior than draught. But you can say that Guinness Foreign Extra Stout beats them all ;) It's a shame, that You had a bad batch of Black Heart. I think it is a far more interesting than Guinness Draught, cause it goes more into more thick coffee and dark chocolate. But I am looking forward to snipe some Connor McGreggor's stout in Asda. I have tried that unfiltered Staropramen and it was gorgeous. I will try it and compare it to both Guinness draught and Black heart as you did.

personally for me the best of these 3 is defo the brewdog black heart and that is from someone that doesnt buy anything brewdog bar there stouts, guinness used to be a go to years ago for me but the brewdog has much more flavor and forged is very poor too.

A fair match this time round. How about O’ Hara’s Leann Folláin and Rye River Nocturne export stout both 6 percent with it being Bagnalstown vs Celbridge Carlow vs Kildare. Porterhouse single stouts are the nicest and best brewed in Dublin. The other stouts on nitro from Ireland settle quicker. And nitro stout tends to be an Irish thing.

Guinness has its place, it's a nice smooth mellow Stout. If I really want some tasty Guinness India Porter which is proper job or Foreign extra which is amazing. Draught Guinness is just good session stuff.

Guiness out of a can just isnt the same as on draught. Fullers black cab stout would be my go to off the shelf supermarket stout. A pub near me does youngs stout on tap and thats much beeter than guiness in my opinion. I think we'll see a massive surge in the stout market in the next couple of years which im very happy about.

Years ago you could get Beamish in pubs and cans. I believe that you can only buy in Southern Ireland now. I would love to try it against Murphy's and Guinness. Away from stouts I had 12 bottles of Steinhausser last night, lovely fruity crisp hoppy pilsner, no hangover at all. German purity law no crap or chemicals.

Beamish cans seem to be being squeezed out of mainstream Dublin supermarkets and off licences; certainly occupying less and less shelf space whenever I go looking as it's my preference for stout, along with O'Hara's Nitro. I still see it fairly frequently on draught in pubs but wouldn't be surprised if it disappears altogether in the next few years. Pity, as its characteristic roast coffee flavour makes it immediately distinguishable from Murphys and Guinness in a blind tasting (and better, in my opinion).

Tried brewdog for the first time last night and thought it was head and shoulders a better tasting beer than draught Guinness, which I've had a fair bit of in the past. Maybe i just like metallic tasting beers ;) Ive been trying to get the forged , just cant seem to find it anywhere as yet.

I had a similar experience with the O'Hara stout that you had with the BrewDog. Several months ago, I bought a 4 pack of O'Hara's and loved it. But last week I bought a 4 pack, and I was disappointed. I would describe the flavor as similar to what you say about the BrewDog. Perhaps, the O'Hara is not consistent. For years my regular stout has been Murphy's and it's always the same consistent flavor.

I find that the nitro hides some of the flavours. If you had the two exact same beers, one served on Co2 and the other on 70/30 they would taste completely different.

I find the smaller breweries here in Ireland at least the nitro is not as dense so the aroma and taste is more flavourful and just as flavoursome as a Co2 head porter.

Funny you mention the weird taste with the brewdog. I had a keg of Punk IPA on the perfect draft and it was how you described this black heart. Compared to a can of punk and was completely different. Got a refund from perfect draft.

Ive just had a couple of Brew dog stouts, very pleasant. However for my money, I'll take a Guinness (or a Murphy's) any day. Preferably actually I'd prefer a London brewed Guinness as I was brought up on the stuff. Harder water, stodgier, slightly more bitter in taste.

Beamish is the best nitro stout from the can and its the best on tap. It's also cheaper than Guinness and Murphys. My local sells all 3 and the Beamish is sold for €4.40 and the Guinness and Murphys are €5.60.

Love a drop of guiness draught i used to drink murphys more than guiness i just preferred the murphys tbh i have not tried the conner stout but have been told it is creamier than guinness, just bought a 10 pack of brewdog and it aint that bad bit more chocolate taste if you like and yes i get what he is saying metallic taste but that is just the a slight bitter taste coming thru, yes a bit flat compared to guiness draught with a bit of a bitter aftertaste but still smooth goes down well only had 1 so far but for the price difference it really isnt that bad worth a try if you like guiness

The black heart ive found is far more roasted. My local in Bolton sells both the Guinness and forged on tap and last night i did a back to back. I prefer the forged. However the original is the best of the lot.

I agree, I'm glad you came up with the same result as me, the Brewdog is horrible, watery, flavour is weak and the mouth feel is grainy. Compared to Guinness is much nicer by a huge margin

Starting to worry about your taste buds. The Forged stuff is not good. Have you considered washing your mouth between beers? I say that as I find Guinness and Forged super sweet and creamy, tasting the Brewdog after that is more of a smoky, roasty classic stout. Your taste buds will be going from one extreme to the next.

I've always preferred Guinness original to Guinness draught even though Guinness original is not Guinness original !! When I started drinking it was bottle conditioned. Today draught Guinness is an inoffensive session stout. I've never had a bad Black heart ! And never had it on draught in a pub so I would love to do a side. Not tried the forged yet , probably will soon.🍻🍻

I love stout. As far as my tastebuds are concerned tho I find most Brewdog beers have an overly grapefruit like taste and this is the same for some other craft brewers. I enjoy an American IPA from Brewdog but tend to avoid their other offerings where I prefer other flavours to grapefruit. The only one of those stouts I can get where I live is Guiness but I'm able to buy a few Czech and German black beers to keep me going.

@@riverpower9402 I haven't tried any Rye River beers, I only have limited access to UK craft beer now but Brewdog is one I can sometimes get. Absolutely there are loads of great craft beers about that have different flavours, I just find some brewers are obsessed with producing beers with the grapefruit citrus taste. .

Has anyone tried Sullivan's Black Marble Stout from Ireland and Forged Stout? Are they similar. Got the Sullivan's in Miami and it's more like an American Craft Stout than Guinness/Beamish/Murphy's, which I'm not too crazy about.

You can definitely taste the wheat in Forged Stout. I think that's the main difference to be honest, because Guinness is supposed to be wheat-free. Forged has an ever so slight wheat beer flavour to it.

Just bought this on offer from Tescos, and thought the same, bitterness, harsh not nice bitterness - off the scale, also very thin - no sweetness or it is overwhelmed by the bitterness, not nice at all. I'll try again later and see if it is just abad batch issue like you say.

Since they made Guinness vegan friendly in 2017, it is absolutely garbage to drink nowadays. It’s amazing people aren’t talking more about this. There is no TEST no flavour. You just get sick of it after your 2nd pint. Haven’t had a chance to try forged Stout but I would like to when I get back to Ireland next year.

I think you should have just opened the Guinness Original and be done with it! In fairness I had a Brewdog Black Heart on draught quite recently ne I thought it was nice, with a fruity element not found in standard draft Guinness. So I wonder if you did have a bad batch?
