Nicely done. You are 80% there, you just need a little more of that swingy sexy fluid vibe that Homme just seems to get just right. A little less robot. Have a drink and try it. Loosen up. Otherwise awesome!

I know this is old and you probably tons better at this now. But if you don't alternate pick the a string(tuned down to f) in the main riff it will sound more kyuss-ey. but good job on the solo at the end.

Do you have the bass tab for this song by any chance?.
@scaredypicker10 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I don't have a bass tab, but I believe that the main rhythm section at the beginning of the song (the main riff etc) are the same on bass. Check out the link to the guitar tab in the description, and maybe have a look on 911 Tabs to see if there's a highly rated tab specifically for bass. Cheers!

great cover!what do you use to record? sorry for the bad english x)
@scaredypicker9 жыл бұрын
+João Ferreira Thanks man! Your English is perfect! I use an old version of Pro Tools and a crappy USB interface called M-Audio Fast Track. The rest of my gear is in the description. I really need to get a new interface soon, especially if I upgrade to Windows 10. It's really hard to get it to work with Windows 7! I'd recommend you got a modern interface to record your stuff with the line in/headphone out jack on your amp.

Can you do a guitar cover of a song by muse (any song by them) on this guitar, as i am deciding to buy this guitar, but i don't know if it suits it. Thanks.

I like some Muse stuff, so yeah I might do one day. It'll probably be a few months at least though before I did.

Great cover man! What is this les paul? Epiphone? Gibson? Is it a baritone guitar for this drop tuning? What amp and pedals did you use?
@scaredypicker9 жыл бұрын
ecko911 Thanks! I didn't use any pedals. The guitar is a Gordon Smith Graduate 60. It was made for me by a luthier called John Smith in the UK. You can see their full list of guitars and order one on their website. The amp is a Marshall AVT150H half stack
@ecko9119 жыл бұрын
scaredypicker Very well, thank you for this quick answer, sir! However have any clue if this kind of model is baritone scaled? What is your string gauge? Are the strings feeling loose with such lower tuning? I am very interrested in buying a Les Paul type of guitar and keep it tuned down to the C standard tuning. I need to know if however the neck of a les paul is scaled long enough to have a confortable playability with the tuning. Pardon my english, 2nd langage, have a nice day!
@scaredypicker9 жыл бұрын
ecko911 Your English is very good! Gordon Smith don't do baritone scale guitars. I actually had 12 gauge strings on this guitar when I played this song. You're right that you need a higher gauge string set to play in C standard. The guitar stayed in tune very well and bending notes was easy. Les Pauls are ideal guitars for this type of tuning, and they are very comfortable! Josh Homme used a Les Paul in Kyuss! :)
@scaredypicker9 жыл бұрын
Ah, my mistake. I know he's used both Ovation and Maton too.

@kmpampak9 жыл бұрын
Hi there! You said your guitar is custom, I have two questions: 1 how much does this cost? and 2 what are their specks? Thank you, keep playing.
@scaredypicker8 жыл бұрын
+kmpampak My guitar cost me about £900. It has a spruce body with a maple cap and neck, and a rosewood fretboard. The scale length and body shape is the same as a Les Paul, but the action is much lower and the pickups are custom wound by Gordon Smith themselves. They also have coil taps so that I can split both the neck and the bridge into single coil configurations as well. The finish is a gloss top with a satin back and neck. If you are interested, they have a website - www.gordonsmithguitars.com/. The waiting list is about 6 months because there are only three people who build them and they are massively popular.

Good cover..you play very well the riff of Josh! but when he was in Kyuss he play only an Ovation ultra GP, not other electric guitars except the acoustic! and he continue to play the same ovation until 2003 with Queens of the Stone Age..I'm sure!
