You guys are doing a great job on these videos. I only discovered you while searching for PLEK machines near me. Your care and attention to detail really comes through here. I had a guitar ruined once by a bad technician who came highly rated, so these videos really help to build trust and show what you're about. I may use your PLEK services in the near future. Thanks, and keep it up!

That purple finish is amazing, my daughter Emily would have loved that back when she had an opinion about colours.

Before i finish watching this fantabulous guitar finishing video I’d like to finsh up by saying that this is some of the best finishing I’ve seen in a long while! Right, I’ve finished.

Well…it is all about the finishing! 😉 Thanks.

Prep is everything when it comes to finishing. Sanding, pore fill, sanding. I use my hands to know if I've got things ready for the finish.

Lot's of good info. Finishing is definitely my weakest area but I'm slowly improving with each guitar.

I’ve finished to a high gloss and smooth finish for my own guitars and was afraid to damage it.. so I’ve copped-out and have been doing lesser finishes and “reliced” a few and really like the fact I cannot it on something and not worry.. thanks for posting it really helps us hobbyists

I like to wipe blistex on the frets prior to shooting the fingerboard with lacquer. After every 3rd coat, I can wipe the finish off of each fret with one pass of the finger. Then if I need more lacquer coats, I just re-apply the blistex. This prevents it from building up and having to wait for everything to cure before I can work on the frets.

Edit: it's important to polish the frets in advance so that the lacquer+blistex can't bind to any grooves of an unpolished fret.

Thanks for the video. Can you link to the sandpaper you use or prefer? You mentioned Eagle Abrasives, but not sure which type. Also, do you have a pad between the sander and the paper?
