Maybe each and every GH/RB guitar chart should be straight 64th green notes at 120bpm regardless of the actual guitar's lyrical composition throughout the duration of any given song! RB and GH are simulators and the goal of a sim is to provide the closest representation possible. Within the parameters of five buttons, RB often provides the better simulation and is, therefore, more satisfying. You can say they're poor sims with only 5 buttons, but RB has Pro Instruments.

Ok. I have seen some very difficult charts for gh3, for example, the Uber Song, but i haven't seen very many really difficult charts for rb3, for example Through the Fire and Flames. But then I come across Operation Ground and Pound and I'm just like "wtf?! Is this rb3 chart even LEGIT?!" I mean, some of those solo sections I don't think even a bot could hit! If one was ever made for rb3 that is (correct me if I am wrong here). The gh3 one I might try on Practice mode, but that rb3 chart can get out of here!

it's because RB3 is harder, so songs like OGAP, and most Chaotrope RBN songs are enough to reach the engine's "limit" of what's feasible or not, whereas GH3's engine allows stuff like Uber Song to be passed, and several custom-made songs (e.g. Universes, Soulless 3) to be FC'd

Having a smaller window of time to hit notes promotes accuracy. The more accurate you have to be, the more difficult. Forcing the player to be closer to the actual mark is not "inaccurate," it's less lenient. GH in generally has a massively lax error threshold by comparison to RB, which is one of the main reasons GH inherently is less difficult than RB. If being less able to bullshit your way through a song takes away from your experience, then that's your problem.

Exactly my point. If Rock Band has pro instruments, they shouldn't try so hard to match a DAMN 5 BUTTON CONTROLLER TO THE REAL THING. It's just silly. And trying to do so becomes a problem when the charts are BORING AS HELL. I can't tell you how many times I've almost fallen asleep playing Bohemian Rhapsody in RB3. I didn't play the game to learn guitar. I have an instructor for that. I played it because it is A VIDEO GAME MEANT FOR ENTERTAINMENT.

I was not speaking specifically for OG&P. Compare any duplicate tracks on GH and RB, you will notice far more HOPO's on all GH charts. Harmonix is infamous for not charting in-game HOPO's for accuracy purposes, making the song frustratingly difficult. Like I said, RB has pro-charts. Do you think it makes sense that Harmonix would be able to chart a whole song's exact notes but not if they're HOPO'd? Don't think so, they know their shit. Activision trades accuracy for casual fun by comparison.

I agree with that although the problem is that people's skill level differ wildly, so while the majority of players (even really good players) may not have fun with a song, there's still someone out there who will have tons of fun with it. On an unrelated note, I find it kinda funny that hardest songs in RB and GH are actually some of the easiest for advanced players to play on a real guitar (they're basically random shredding without too much rhyme and reason), and majority of the easiest in RB/GH are a pain in the ass to play in reality, due to complicated chord progressions and high requirements for your sense of rhythm.

A lot of guitar charts in Rock Band over the last 3 years have been fucking terrible skittlefests. Look at Pulse of the Maggots as one lovely example. But there are tons of little SNAFUs not counting crazy BS solos that are just WTF charting. Notes that audibly go up/down but are charted different from what you hear. Granted that's not "how guitar works" but it looks and feels mind-blowingly illogical from a plastic guitar standpoint.

by accuracy in HOPOs, i only mean the window of time you have to press whatever button that has to be hammered on or pulled off.. guitar hero is a little more lenient in the fact that you can hit the note a little early or a little late (from guitar hero 3 on, HOPOs are pretty unforgivable in GH 1 + 2), while in rockband you have a very small window of time in which the note can be registered, which kind of takes the experience away from me.

It's supposed to make it so you don't have to be as accurate with them, which is a pretty good idea (because most of the time the people playing them aren't even accurate with them) but they are kind of a pain in the ass to play I think.

rock band has some notes that do not exist. the guitar hero already has some parts missing notes. at the beginning of the song I think in fact the notes are made with tapping, or are hamer-on, and rockband all have to be picking, I thought that was pretty bad. rock band tem algumas notas que simplesmente não existem. ja o guitar hero tem algumas partes em que faltam notas. no inicio da musica acho que na realidade as notas são feitas com tapping, ou seja, são hamer-on, é ruim palhetar no RB.

maybe because I got ADD, a friend got autism, another friend got ADHD and I got 3 friends that play guitar. ADD has nothing to do with unable to remain still for any period of time, that is ADHD. ADD is pure a mental condition, and does not effect physical things ADHD which causes people to be unable to remain still for a long amount of time. Asperger syndrom is part of the Autistic Spectrum (ASD, like you mentioned), but is NOT the same as Autism itself (which is also part of ASD).
