Another GH3 song, and an interesting choice for this game honestly. This probably one of my least favorite songs to play from GH3, and it's no different here. Thankfully the strumming section is easier on this chart/engine. There may be some sort of overstrum protection/leniency going on in this engine, I feel like I should've missed or overstrummed here, but I got this on first try. Maybe I was just lucky, idk.

This was played on the DeSmuME emulator using a guitar controller, not a real Nintendo DS and guitar grip. Have to disagree with you, I absolutely love this song and it's one of my favourites in the game!! Another GH3 classic and another cover! It's actually two songs in one, so it should be listed as "Black Magic Woman / Gypsy Queen". Rock Band 3 got just the first song as DLC, so it cuts off after around 3:50. Also, this song has the most egregious instance of censorship in the entire Guitar Hero franchise in the PAL versions. The word "Devil" is censored in the line "she's tryna make a Devil out of me". Clearly Vicarious Visions did not wanna risk their PEGI 3+ rating on ANYTHING.

Yep! And because of infinite front end the yellow HOPO just automatically gets hit as long as you hold the fret down, just like in GH3.

Omg I still remember everything about the time when you post that GH3 video. But this time you didn't repeated the path. I've listened a lot of time and always feel fault about the song effect of the star power from that version. I never could get FC on this because the ending has a ridiculous strum section that always brokes my run (4:47)

You're absolutely right about "overstrum protection" here, and it's unique to this game. Modern hits and decades don't have it and it's one of the many reasons why those games are about a thousand times more difficult to get FCs in

This was one of my brother's favorite songs to play in Guitar Hero III. The songs played mostly was this song, My Name Is Jonas, Story Of My Life, Rock and Roll All Nite, 3's and 7's, and I'm In The Band. He only played on Medium, since he wasn't that good.

I think it’s evidence that they used the GH3 charts as a baseline in appropriate cases; a quick check of the GH3 version has that played as a yellow HOPO’d into blue held, followed by an orange held. Here, they obviously couldn’t make the high note orange, so it became blue and the prior note was shifted down one, but I suspect it kept a forced HOPO tag. The phrase already started on green in GH3, so the shift had to be at some point in the middle of the phrase; and they picked the (what was) yellow-to-blue transition. Hence, we get the yellow HOPO’d to yellow.

The only reason GH' version is better over Rock Band is that they included the Gypsy Queen part, otherwhise the song would be boring to play IMO
