Hendrix,VanHalen, Page,Malmsteen,DiMeola,....great players ALL but my inspiration is Steve Lukather. To me his phrasing, tone choices,"pocket placement" is second to none.

Same here. In my teens I was kinda upset he never got mentioned in a top 100 of the greatest guitar players. He helped shape the music we all loved.

I swear I Love the playing of Steve Lukather,, nobody can teach you better how to play the guitar just by listening to his stuff! he plays so accurately, his timings are perfect, notes length, his licks, bendings, whatever that guy does, he is doing it perfectly. inclusive of his 1000 sounds always the perfect sound for the song. this is the greatest player alive - sorry but - he is. I know there are a lot of great players but I prefer listening to Steve any day and time.

Yeah, I agree with you. When you really listen to the parts he plays, a lot of the time I think that it could not have been played any better than that .

I've been a music lover for over 50 years now, and there have always been great guitar players, past & present. I have always questioned how the "knowledgers" rank them??? I think of Steve Stevens, Neal Schon, Neil Giraldo, Dave Colquhoun etc. Some of them don't even appear in the rankings. That's crazy. But Steve Lukather is simply brilliant in my books. Look at his concerts with G3 for example. He really stands out. That's just my opinion, or is it?

@chazer7933 жыл бұрын
The guy can play anything and make it a better version of the song. Just look at the work he did as session musician playing lead guitar for others: Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Peter Cetera, Ringo Starr, Quincy Jones, Greg Lake, Don Henley, Warren Zevon, Stevie Nicks, George Benson, Kenny Loggins, Chicago, Asia, Richard Marx, Rod Stewart, Weezer, among many others. These artists rung the gamut in terms of musical style, and yet they all kept calling him.
