I agree with you. Something about this song has always felt different. It’s utterly devastating to listen to, and I mean that as a compliment. The song has such a burning, brooding intensity of loneliness and despair. Eddie sounds so quiet yet so pained. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of someone in their absolute worst mental state. No other Pearl Jam song comes close to creating this kind of mood.

Most definitely! the chords to that are pretty simple, but I'm hoping to find the time to figure out the doodly doos that the guitar does in the intro. It'll happen! Thanks for the request Alf :)

We should start a channel of students learning to play PJ from your youtube from the perspective of how happy we are to put 4 notes together that kinda sounds like PJ ..

Are PJ the most creative drop D band out there? Not that they play a huge tonne of stuff in drop D, but when they do.... It's like no one ever told them how drop D lends itself to easy power chords :)

In fact, whilst busking I recently had a kind gentleman tell me how wonderfully weird my music was to him. I of course disclosed that what he'd been listening to was mostly PJ and SG covers, with one RL&L song and one or two of my own thrown in there - but it made me realise for the first time how studying these weird musicians whom we both love and adore has made me a (less talented) weird guitarist myself :)
@RyanLendt Жыл бұрын
Yes. I think Habit is the only example of normal drop D-ing. I wholly concur on the weird guitarist point - also, it's an honour to be in your setlist :)
