TP & The Heartbreakers songs all sound so straight forward and simple. Then I try to learn them and I realize how there are tons of little extras and nuances thrown in that really do "make" the song! And make it difficult to figure out how to play it right. TP is right up there with Chris Cornell, SRV, and Eddie Vedder, and Led Zepplin in my book of great song writers and crafty singers. He's been my all time favorite for years now. Such a genius at song crafting. I thank you once again for making a video that us both fun to watch and makes me feel like I can be able to actually play another song accurately! I really appreciate your lessons! And your positive vibe and mix of humor and humility make you a fun instructor. Keep up the good work! I still say you're one top notch instructor.

No kidding! I'm learning ukulele. My first instrument. Picked it up July 2020. Often turn to guitar instructions. The chords /strumming patterns are the same. As I learn Petty songs I think of the line "She had a guitar and he taught him some chords" from into "Great Wide Open"... Tom &Heartbreakers 💘🎩🎸make it look effortless. You'd think a uke would be simple but to put a nice uke spin on it you got to find the right groove. I guess you just got to put on that party dress and keep strumming away till it you get it right. Thanks Ryan for this video very helpful!

You the man Ryan...drop the Mic! I’ve been watching your videos for a few months and it’s really made it fun to play guitar again while trying to take it to another level . Playing is fun again. Love the little side notes that you add with your tutorials that are never included with the online tabs that make the song sound like the original recording. You’re an amazing musician...keep it going!

I intend to make a real concerted effort to learn more guitar stuff when winter moves in this year. Been looking at different dudes (and gals) to learn from. Some just like to hear themselves a yapping, others like to re-invent the damn geetar, others are good, too. I like this guy because I’m thinking he can help me get a notch or two better with his simple style and knowledge of how notes work within chords. We’ll see, I reckon!

Ryan, In the chorus I'm not hearing a straight Am, I'm hearing an open b string. not sure if its another guitar or an overdub. Is somebody maybe doing a hammer on from the open b to the b 3rd fret. Try it and tell me what you think. BTW I love Tom Petty. You should do more lessons. They are great simple songs to teach and he has a massive library to choose from. Very fun to play.
@RyanLendt6 жыл бұрын
I just gave the first chorus another listen, and while I'm not hearing the Asus2 (A with the open B string) Asus2 is awfully interchangeable with A (like almost always) and perhaps you're hearing what you want to hear :) in which case you should do it that way. that's a nice way to do it!
@RyanLendt6 жыл бұрын
oh and I'd love to do more petty - which one should I do next??
@supermariozombies48246 жыл бұрын
Funny you should mention that but I was thinking maybe it was what I thought fit better not what I was actually hearing. That Asus2 fits awfully well when I play along to the song almost like it should be there. Playing the A there is like eating a hotdog with nothing on it. DRY. Btw I just found a lesson were the guy was playing an A7 instead of the A so apparently I'm not the only one hearing wrong.

I love the sound and the fullness of 452 hz, but it really messes with my pitch:( ironically this song and Acoustic no. 1 are my 2 favorite songs to play
@RyanLendt6 жыл бұрын
THAT'S FUNNY! you must just really like 452hz :)
@theseeker44196 жыл бұрын
How have I not learned this one. I love learning Tom Petty. Oh by the way speaking of diffetent frequency’s. Do you know about the solfeggio frequency’s. Plus about 440hz which is standered turning now. But it used to be 432hz from what I have read. There is a big Conspircy around the reason it was changed. It’s pretty interesting actually! Lol
@RyanLendt6 жыл бұрын
I would like to hear more about this conspiracy... can you direct me please?
@theseeker44196 жыл бұрын
Yea it’s really interesting. I will find a link that I have saved that good. Yea apperently prince and some other musicians would tune at 432hz all their music. You can not really tell much of a difference by ear. It’s about what 440 does to the body as opposed to what 432 does. 432 is one of the solfeggio frequencies that is considered a healing frequency. I mentioned Cymatics to you before?
@theseeker44196 жыл бұрын
Here is pretty good article in this. It gets into the Conspircy a little further down the article . Of course the rabbit hole gets deeper as you look more into it. But here is a good start. globalnews.ca/news/4194106/440-hz-conspiracy-music/

The guy who wrote this used to work for Dallas local alternative station. Been around since I was 14. It’s actually a really good one. I listen to all the solffegio frequency’s while I sleep. The results have been phenomenal. I have been doing for about 2 years.
