Full explanation for the harmonics probably too long for KZbin comments. The short answer is that harmonics are about fractions of your scale length and that they only care about the distance to the nearest "anchor" point, either the nut or the bridge. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th frets are roughly 1/6, 1/5, and 1/4 of your scale length away from the nut. Fractions with larger denominators correspond to higher notes. You can find the exact same harmonics the same distances away from the bridge.

Is the actual solo a combo of harmonics and gizmo noises or is it something else, if so how do you play the solo
@Ginger2Rocker
@Ginger2Rocker Жыл бұрын
dont need a mathematician or physicist to explain that harmonics are a patter of halves. the first harmonic divides the string exactly in half at the 12th fret, then the next would be the half of the half, and keeps going like that. so the harmonics above and below the 12th fret at the same intervals are the same.

My harmonics aren’t working
@rrdlr2
@rrdlr2 2 жыл бұрын
harmonics get lower the higher you go because the vibrating length gets longer, and therefore lower in pitch, when fretting proper the vibrating length gets shorter and therefore higher in pitch. You're welcome.
@rrdlr2
@rrdlr2 2 жыл бұрын
When fretting the vibrating length is only beyond the fingered fret, with harmonics, it is the whole length of the string but divided at nodes which and where the touched harmonic determines, ie, the whole string but divided in fractions thereof. I wish I could post pictures because I'm sure most of you probably still aren't clear on it. Best example is 12 fret harmonic which actually matches the fretted note, when fretted, only the part of string beyond the fret vibrates which is half the length, but with a harmonic the whole string vibrates, but separately in two halves, hence the same pitch but different quality.
