Awesome lesson Cory! Thanks for putting into the effort to share with us. One minor feedback, it would be nice if at the beginning you talked a bit about what is the pentatonic scale and when to use it. That would give good context and motivation for the rest of the lesson. But still a fantastic vid!
@blingblangtrucknbrotherr

I got you on this one: The pentatonic scale we use in music is comprised of 5 notes. This is where the name comes from and will only ever utilize 5 notes from the key (in this particular example, of course). In Cory's example the notes for C major are; C,D,E,G,B! In comparison, the standard key of C major uses all the white keys on the piano or C,D,E,F,G,A, and B. Each note has its own position in relation to the key it is in known as the Scale Degree. C would be the 1st scale degree or 1, D would be the 2nd scale degree or 2, and so on until it gets to B(the 7th scale degree or 7) before it flips back over to the 1st scale degree, C. This repeats up and down the entirety of every scale. One will only ever use 7 notes in a key! Switching keys is when it gets spicy but thats for another lecture. By stripping the 4th scale degree and 7th scale degree from ANY major scale, you will have its pentatonic equivalent. You could do this by determining the root of a key, the respective note positions on said key, identifying which are the 4th and 7th scale degrees, and plucking them out like a stray hair. Less is definitely more with the pentatonic scale because of the space being added between notes-- It is universally agreed upon (see: Jaws theme) that semi-tone movements (think C to C# or a natural semi-tone B to C) add tension in some way. A tone or whole step (C to D for example) seems resolute even if a small step up from the previous note. The pentatonic scale removes all of those semi-tone movements and keeps the "foundation" of the key. Because of this, a musician can utilize these 5 notes in melodic lines, solos, etc, with the freedom of knowing there will be less clashing/tension between the harmony being constructed for the song and their sweet, face-melting solos. The pentatonic scale is a powerful tool that can be adjusted and changed to fit whatever idea you are trying to express musically. It also provides a safety net of being "grounded" to the root of a key (1st scale degree). You can still play some squelchy notes if you got Dave Brubeck on the keys playing jazzy extended chords but i digress. I highly suggest taking one of your favorite keys and jamming over a chord progression with a pentatonic scale! You could sing, whistle, roll the keys, slap the bass, etc. Once you have that down then try and break it: what happens if you flatten the 3rd degree? What happens if you add in all the other notes from the major scale? At the end of the day trust YOUR ear. No one else will ever be able to hear music the way YOU do! Have fun and get cracking!

Lost a few opportunities here. 1) you show the shapes but not the starting position. Are you starting at the 3rd fret? 5th? I had to look you playing to find it out.. 2) differentiate E string from e string. I know it is possible to figure it out looking até the sequence, but contrasting E versus e is much faster and intuitive.
