His opening run through the C minor scale shows his unconscious approach and feel he puts into playing his music. It's a simple way to try and mimic his style to begin with and put yourself into "Johnston" mode if your trying to gleam a bit from this phenomenal virtuoso. We are all so lucky to have access to videos like this from our guitar idols in this day and age. It's a blessing and a curse because it's harder to develop the ear in the days of tabs, video lessons, and songster but if you want it bad enough you'll figure it out by any means necessary.

You mean diamond series but ya they'll never do it
