@@artamussumatra6286 I have a 79 hardtail currently, 8.4lbs, it’s definitely a great Strat. All the tones are there. I remember playing a 76 years ago, an absolute boat anchor and it sounded thin to me. I played it sitting down and it made my leg fall asleep. Had to be 11lbs. A lot of factors comprise good tone but it’s really in the ear of the beholder.

When I was first learning guitar, and how to sing, my Nanna would call each Sunday and ask to hear the latest song I had learned. She had an integral part in raising me, and would pass away not long after then, on my 16 birthday, so those phone calls are very special to me when I look back.

Most Strats are if they aren’t set up properly. They are a bit more complicated than other guitars - even the hard tails, you have to carefully adjust to compensate for the magnetic pull of the 3 pickups, as well as minimize friction at the bridge, nut, and tuners.

Mine stays in tune, full step bends. Absolutely no issue.

@@jeanemmanuelkrieger6001 Egg-zactleee! I was fortunate to have grown up in the ‘80s, when the now stupid priced pre CBS Fenders were still affordable, and the CBS ones were cheap as chips. In my experience with them, other than the later ash ones being noticeably heaver, there really wasn’t enough difference in tone and playability to get upset about. I sold the ones I had right before the collector’s market really took off, a rather bad decision in retrospect. I’m perfectly happy with what I’ve got now, (newer American Professional)but If I was in the market for a vintage Fender, I’d definitely be looking at the ‘70s, they are still relatively a bargain, and they play and sound fantastic!
