I had a 1982 "Norlin era" les Paul. It was a rock and roll machine. Great sustain, great playability, all I had to change was the notorious tin can input jack which always went bad. Had original pickups and the string winder tuning pegs. Same color arctic white. Sold it in early 2019. Damn thing weighed almost 12 pounds (back breaker) but god the sustain was incredible.

I have a 77 and just fixed the tin can jack this week! It broke years ago but i got the corrosion off a voila! Im back!

I’ve got a 1984 les paul studio that’s aged to yellow it been like that since I got it in 1993. The clear finish on it has these cracks running the length of the guitar it looks very cool

I've owned my Les Paul Custom black with gold hardware since 1984. Put Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups, Babicz full contact bridge and a TP-6 Tailpiece on it. Couldn't be happier. Sustains for days!!! 🤟

@@fredmerrill4002 indeed he did, although originally Steve jones said he stole it, but later admitted McLaren and brought it back from New York, As I’m sure you know there is a custom shop version of that guitar, I expect norms will have one at some point?

I have an ‘82 LP Custom, burgundy (dark wine), and chrome hardware - a factory option costing an extra $100. It has no volute. Best thing about these guitars? Tim Shaw designed humbuckers. He was with Gibson from late ‘70s thru probably mid ‘80s, and Gibson tasked him with replicating the legendary PAF pickups. Great sounding pups; they can go for $1,000 or a bit more/less, in great condition. Shaw is a certified pickup guru, and Fender made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Gibson’s loss, imho. Guitars with his pickups always have a great sound. My ‘82 (bought used, not new) kills every other LP I’ve owned, except a real ‘54 LP Black Beauty. The other four pale in comparison

I was 18 in 1980 and I looked at Les Pauls, but they were so heavy... I went Fender and never looked back, but I certainly can appreciate the tone of the beast.. It probably a good deal too. Maybe $3k?
