Nice demo ! Actually saw one of these 'can openers' at a shop i'd shopped at since the early '70s in the early '00s. Went to the town to see family with my then teenage daughter and stopped by on the way home. Owner says "I got something you gotta see", reaches behind the counter and pulls out one of these ! She had it on consignment and would only show to folks she trusted. I'd only seen them in books so blown away. Played it abit but didn't get to plug it in. I dug it but Daughter was bored so.... That was it. Never saw one again until today.

I hope someone from the shop reads this. I knew Joey Cardillo who was good friends with Richie Sambora many years ago. Joey was in a band called the Royals. I understand that Richie attended Joey’s funeral many years ago when Richie was with Bon Jovi. Joey showed up one day when we were thinking about putting a band together. Joey showed up with two black background singers holding each ones hand. We did “Love The One Your With.” When the solo came up and all three of them sang the Ahh’s the hair stood up on the back of my neck. Joey had the look and the voice of a star. It really shows Richie’s character attending his old friends funeral. His old friend maybe gone but is not forgotten.

I love the Moderne. I have a 2011 version in Ebony with the Futura headstock. If any '58 Moderne's ever existed they are the true Holy Grail of Gibson guitars. In my imagination there is one long forgotten and tucked in the attic or closet of a former Gibson employee's house in the Kalamazoo area. The Shaw pickups in that Korina '84 sound great!

I own this exact guitar. “A” series serial number. Bought it used in 1986 for $450. It was hanging on the wall at a car stereo shop. Someone had traded it in for a car stereo and I snatched it up. Sadly, it did not come with the original case, which does not help my resale value. But it sure does play and sound fantastic

Saw a guitar at a music shop in 1976 it cost $199.00 and it took my 16 year old self 2 weeks pay from pumping gas 11 to 7 at the Shell station on Eisenhower Blvd Harrisburg PA. I didn't know what it was but it said Ibanez on the headstock, cool it must be a Spanish made guitar. I took it home and just freaking loved it, went back a month later and got the ca se for it. I found out later it was a Copy of a Gibson Moderne, fast forward to 1982 ,I see in ,guitar world that Gibson is reissueing the Moderne so I go to my local guitar shop and order one the owner says no problem I'll have it in a couple of weeks, I ask if I can pay in advance he says no need I will call you when it's in.30 years later I still don't have Gibson Moderne , until I get a 2012 reissue, now I have 6 welcome to the Moderne world Orianthi, you are awesome, highly strung is so fn cool you blaze.

@gianski33063 жыл бұрын
It’s weird but highly sought after, the original 3 weird guitar shapes that Gibson showed at a NAMM in the 50’s were the Flying V, Futura(Explorer prototype) and this, the Moderne, and of course only 2 of those 3 were actually made into production, so the Moderne was stopped at the prototype phase(this what i remember, i might be wrong and it might’ve been made into production but only a really small amount) so when people started learning about Gibson’s history, the Moderne started being popular for being a rare model of Gibson guitars
@anthonyc18833 жыл бұрын
