To answer 3 questions/curiosities: -The button is actually a genuine Sanwa OBSF-24mm which is used in competitive arcade gaming controllers. You simply connect two jump wires that go from each side of the guitar jack to each connector of the button so when you press it they're grounded and no sound is heard. -The strap is a Levi's Stretch strap, it's elastic and it's honestly the most comfortable strap I've ever had. -The sweep tapping is a technique where you hold your pick between your middle and thumb so you can sweep and still tap with all the other fingers. Hope it helps, keep rockin guys 🤟🏼

There is a guy that does amateur Buckethead videos on the Natternet channel. There are also a lot of informational videos there along with stories from people that have worked with him. A fun video on Natternet is titled "In the Bin - Buckethead (Music Video)" It's B horror movie themed from Pike 20 Thaw album. I'll try posting a link. Sometimes that works, sometimes not.

An actual Buckethead video made around 1995 has been posted on the Buckethead Archive channel. It is an Eddie Hazel style impromptu jam. My information is they did this cold. Nothing was written or worked out prior. Bucky just starts off by laying down a melody line, than the drummer Brian 'Brain' Mantia adds in a rhythm. They both proceed to work off of it. During the later portion of the jam Bucky kind of backs off and lets Brain have at it. Oh and there is a minute of goofing around at the beginning of the video. It's on Buckethead Archive titled Buckethead & Brain - I'm Thirsty and Scared | HD I'll try a link below.

BH's gimmick is that he's a robot who grew up on a farm and was cared for by chickens. They liked him so much that they scratched his face off so he could wear a mask everyday like it was Halloween. One day the evil farmers killed and fried his chicken friends. They placed the fried chicken in a bucket and threw the bucket into the coop where he lived. He was so distraught that he put the empty bucket on his head and then headed for the nearest cemetery to play his guitar for all the chicken souls who had been killed and fried. After that he just kept traveling and playing his guitar. The button is a killswitch. Moving his guitar up and down like that plays into the robot gimmick. You'll notice he moved his arms and body all stiff at one point to mimick a robot.

buckethead: i'm assuming people have recommended nottingham lace to you by now. his "best" (when weighing accessibility, writing, and listenability), imo, albums ironically are more notable for being chill as hell instead of just raw shredding. these include colma, electric tears, electric sea, a real diamond in the rough, shadows between the sky, population override, the dragons of eden, captain eo's voyage, and a number of his pike albums. elephant man's alarm clock and inbred mountain have some great tracks too. i'm sure i'm missing some and some of his heavier stuff is pretty accessible too, but i think listening to this kind of stuff kind of sets the groundwork for his more obscure stuff.

Buckethead - For Mom and Buckethead - Hold me forever, two amazing songs you should listen, For Mom was written for his mother to listen in the hospital when she was sick, Hold me forever was written a few years later when she passed away.

i saw buckethead live, and it was one of my favorite shows that i've been to, and it is extremely impressive to see him pull this stuff off live. he seems to usually mix up the solos live - it's not the same as the album version. and while these performances are great and i'm glad we have some on video, i still think for most of his material the instrumental version is probably best to hear as your introduction to the songs. it's nuts considering how he's released hundreds of different albums and that's just solo work, not including collaborations.

@@MrEinSteiger i didn't even mention that i saw him in a small indoor venue with standing room only and was within about 10-15 feet of him, and that he passed toys out to the audience...unfortunately i didn't get a souvenir lol. still a super cool show, surprisingly small crowd (although still pretty packed up close like that).
