13:03 The reason why Blues goes so well with it it’s because corridos are basically Mexican blues, the narco corrido songs that hit your soul the most are the ones that show the bitterness of the “struggle life” not just the sweetness. Like in 18 Libras of Minis de Caborca, the protagonists say: my mom asked “where’s all this money coming from? This is a humble (poor) house (family)” to which the protagonist tell her “don’t worry mom, my job is an honest one”. The very next verse the protagonist tells us the listener “if only my mom knew, some times I can’t even sleep”. That bittersweetness between the “victory” and the blues/sadness is what makes corridos so precious.

In the songs breakdown, what you see and hear is the guitarist synchronizing the notes with the double bass. What you hear is a continous "banging," which is a signature sound of corridos tumbados. The reason the double bass is used is because you can make it sound like gunfire when playing it. Like a machine gun. Corridos tumbados have, as its rhythmical basis, the sound of narco-corridos, which is a contemporary spin-off from traditional corridos. Bands that began using the double-bass began using it for that reason. It mimicked, in a way, the lethal life of narcos, and its weapons-heavy and violent culture. Traditional northerm Mexico music used the double-bass, but it was never continously played with the that fast-tapping technique.
