I've been playing electric guitar for almost thirty years. I recently started taking lessons to get out of a rut. My teacher asked if I could read music and I, embarrassingly, said no. There is nothing more humbling than playing for all those years and starting with Aura Lee note for note. Great video and very motivating!
@alchemist11112 жыл бұрын
I went through the same thing. I felt like I was in kindergarten playing guitar for the first time. I could play all kinds of metal and other rock based music on easy steel electric strings but classical was another animal and showed me I knew nothing about music and the guitar.

@programxxx Yes I was a little doubtful that he's a beginner! Either way though, to someone like me who is a beginner, it seems like beautiful playing :-)
@KebabGuitarist24082 жыл бұрын
@programxxx Agreed! Because beginners usually do not understand how to hit the string without curving your fingers for quite a long time! I have been playing Classical guitar since I was 4-5 and only fully understood and mastered this concept a few months back. I do not believe this is only 700 hour of practice
@CutTheCrapAndKissMe2 жыл бұрын
@@KebabGuitarist2408 can you please elaborate on Hand positioning? What do you mean not curve your finger
@KebabGuitarist24082 жыл бұрын
@@CutTheCrapAndKissMe Well I guess I was a little unclear on what I meant. What I meant is that a mistake many beginners often do is that they do not keep their fingers on their right hand stiff enough while playing. This means their fingers can often curve backwards and not give as full of a tone. This more fullness of a tone makes a quite a big difference on how a piece sounds. Without it it can sounds very sloppy and not as pleasing. If you still think this is unclear I can send you a demonstration

Nice progress on classical guitar but your description should clearly state that you had already (as taken from a comment you wrote in this video's comments section) "played electric guitar for 700 hours before I started playing classical guitar." 700 hours already logged playing electric guitar doesn't make you a beginner with classical guitar. I studied for years with several different teachers. I reached an intermediate level eventually, when a new teacher remarked "I'm surprised you can play as well as you do with such small hands." Nobody had ever mentioned that to me in all the years I had been studying. I finally got a smaller scale instrument, which was definitely easier for me to play, but soon became old and lost my hand flexibility. A life-long wannabe, alas.

If you study "correctly" the 10,000 hour rule can be shortened? Maybe practice slowly at first to get it right. Bar by bar. etc.

I think it is a effective approach!

Bravo!!! What I found in my personal experience is that I would bump into these 'plateaus' which will make it seems like I am not advancing any further. But once in a while there will also be these 'break throughs' that will make me super happy. Of course these are stuff happening in life too like getting married, having 1st baby .. then having another one will be stop one in his/her track. I have gaps which I put down my guitar for months or ever years... Better do this project while you are still young and never give up.
