Hi Kris: re. Vintage Tele truss rod setup. I have carved a little the body under the pickguard with a Dremel, so that I don't need to unmount the neck anymore. If and when I need to adjust the truss rod, I just lift the pickguard and use a tool with a 90° angled blade that I've got from StewMac and that's it ! Works fine. Cheers

Chris, thanks for shareing all your knowledge with us! Regarding vintage tele truss rods: stewmac has a tool (called truss rod crank for tele) with which you can adjust the screw without taking the neck of. All you have to do for using that tool is to remove the pickguard! Very cool little tool!

Hi Kris! On the fourth comment, about the pickup being quieter, the super-dupper obvious answer is pickup height. Maybe the person checking the pickups measured that before swapping pickups and adjusted accordingly, but sometimes we get a number fixated in our minds and don't second guess that number. Different pickups might need different heights, and if the pickup hight is exactly the same, that might be the issue. Again, I don't know much, sooo what I'm saying might be BS hahaha Thanks for the great content! These and other GTT are super useful!

Thanks for the tips. First thing I do, when I got one of my guitars, is I take it to the Tech I go to, have him check the nut, I’m surprised how some tuning issues is due to the cut of the nut

It's not really which coil is hotter that stays on. It depends on how it was wired. Humbucker has a 4-wire-output - 2 wires for each coil (start and finish). As the wiring goes from north coil (poles) to south (screws), the northern coil will remain working when you break the connection between two coils (white-red are connected to each other to create a humbucker from two coils). Some people even reverse wiring to get the outer(south) coil working while splitting (the better single coil sound the closer to neck). That would happen if you swapped the signal wire (mostly black) with green (mostly south coil's ending). So it really just depends on the wiring.

Another posible Solution would ve, check the wiring colors conections, Dimarzio and SD aré opposite, or maybe you are connecting in Split Coil for color mistake... Love this videos! Saludos desde mx

I have a 2018 Harley Benton fanfret 8 string, it has 2 truss rods and of course it's an 8 string. To avoid causing damages to the guitar i always give it to a professionist who makes the set up and everything but, could you make a video on how to deal with 8 string guitars, more than one truss rod and action and everything? Thank you in advance. It seems like dealing with a "normal" guitar but the increased tension, the fanfret and everything makes it a bit more complicated to deal with

Off topic question, what’s that in the fake picture window? A boat yard a power plant what is that. General topic question, why does my acoustic seem to over resonate A notes in standard E tuning ? When dropping to C# it seems to not have any outstanding frequencies?

I like vintage truss rods ...looks better i think and the adjustment is not so hard. tape the strings or better use a capo and then loosen the neck for the adjustment. with this "trick" you dont need new strings 😉

Hi Kris, I have a Squier strat that has fretbuzz all over. I can remedy that but setting the string action very high (which is not very comfy to play). Is there a way to lower the action without having the fretbuzz? Cheers!

Hope you guys do a new setup reveal for an 8 string, maybe someone like Fredrik Thordendal or Per Nilsson, maybe Tosin Abasi.

I own a Prs se Tremonti. It has a tremolo bridge that can float (there's a back box). So, when I use the whammy bar, it gets out of tune. But when I pressed gently it get back to tune. Why? 😭

shouldn't you tighten the truss rod if the buzz goes more towards the mid and higher registers? and loosen the rod when it buzzes on the first 3 frets?
@sampojuuti
@sampojuuti Жыл бұрын
Yes, the rod should be tightened to straighten the neck.

@@sampojuuti if the neck has too much backbow then you need to loosen it to straighten the neck. it goes both ways

At the same time I have a question I have buzz only on the 5th string on frets 2-4 Only one string and just few frets. Guitar Ibanez rg8570 j-custom. Still can’t figure out what’s going on. What could it be? Thanks. P. S. Open string - no buzz

You probably have a high fret number 3 or 4. Get a fret rocker or something flat and wide enough to set across 3 frets at a time. If it "rocks" across the 3 frets, you have a high fret. File it down a tiny bit at a time in the spot where it rocks. Take you time with the filing or you will make a low fret. 😀

@@lyndelnavarro9714 thanks for the answer The thing is that strings 6 and 4 are absolutely fine. No buzz at all. Still can’t understand how that could happen
