All I know this song very well was composed by a Culasinhon, from Culasi, Antique. I learned this lullabye since I was a wee little baby sung by my mom who hails from Lauaan, Antique. Very soothing. If I look into family names, Maestra Fortunata bears a familky name of Magsipoc, a very familiar name in the family lineage with the Cabangons from Culasi, Antique, where my 2 kids are still visiting the grave of their relatives from Papa's side. In our family gathering there, we used to sing this song in midnight before we dispense fo sleep with the soothing breeze from the seashore. I am happy that my kids will continue to give time to honor Papa's legacy which will be there's in due time. History if music is great! Thanks.

I was looking for another local song "Ahay, Kalisud!" and came across this post. This was a lullaby I fondly recall which my grandma sang (to me) since my mother left to work overseas. This is a song local to us in Culasi (Antique) and has been a subject of contention. Your explanation on who wrote this song, that it favors Maestra Fortunata Magsipoc Ledesma over Abeto, makes sense. (I may sound biased as I am from the place.) It is a farewell song written (likely by a woman) for her lover (husband/boyfriend). The Payao in Binalbagan (formerly known as Soledad) was created way much later. There is a sitio called Payao in Culasi since the olden days. Also it has been published in music books in the early 1900s which credits it as a folksongs from Culasi, Antique. I am not a singer nor a guitarist by any means. I just like local folksongs specifically Hiligaynon/kiniray-a and also came to appreciate Ilocano songs (since my wife is from the region.) I have three Ilocano songs in mind, hopefully you could play?
