Thank you so much for these videos. I’m an American solo performer. I play these songs live and I appreciate hearing your traditional way of playing. This helps me perform these songs closer to the way they were meant to be played.

Yeah I love folk songs because often they tell a story. And I like songs that do that. The first time I heard this song was from the cover that metallica did. And I had a feeling before I even looked up the traditional lyrics that metallica probably changed some of the words. Which apparently they or someone who they heard the song from did. In the pines, also known as Where did you sleep last night is an american folk song that is a favorite of mine too. Nirvana did a cover of that.

Good evening. I'm sorry, but my english isn't very good, because I'm from Mexico. I would like to thank you very much for this guitar lesson, I really wanted to learn this wonderful song. Although I listen first Metallica version, it made me search the original one, and I found out it is a great Irish song. Actually, I also wanted to learn Metallica's version, but the way you just played the song by the end gave some ideas, so let's see what can I do. Once again, thank you very much.

Hello! Thanks so much for another wonderful tutorial! Ireland really do have some lovely folk-songs. It's interesting to see how many bands have also recorded a version of it... I could be mistaken but I think the Grateful Dead are also on that list! I'm pretty new to playing the guitar, so sorry if this seems like a silly question... which strings are you playing between the strummed chords? Thanks :)
