He left us so many great compositions. I've learned quite a few of them. The only problem is if I don't keep up on some of them I have to go over them again a few times to get that muscle memory back. Theres a few that I hardly forget like, Tango en Skai I can usually get first try even after months. Ive got his ten jazz arrangements and so far i can do All of me, Bluessette, All the things you are and Night in Tunisia. I think I spend learning his work more than anyone else. I could do a whole set of just his work. I think the greatest guitar composer of the 20th century and maybe of all time. Truly a real talent. I was so sad to know he left us so soon. I sure hope they have guitars in Heaven.

To follow up, this shit is nuts. I can't believe that some random person is basically interviewing their grandpa and uploading it to youtube and yet to somebody like me, it's potentially one of the most important things they've ever seen.

RIP Mr Dyens. So unfortunate that a generic, uninformed person was seemingly one of his last interviewists (Yeah.). "Is it hard to play the classical guitar? OMFG. But still I feel like we've had a little more insight into his personality. Beautiful.

Kailee knew Roland well and is quite informed about the classical guitar world, I assure you. The questionnaire was designed by her and myself as an approachable way into the classical guitar milieu and its players, and the interviews were aimed at a more general audience. In any case, this is not one of his last interviews. Far from it, as it was recorded in 2011.

It is actually a very interesting question to ask a player as good as Dyens. I always wonder if the most talented players in the world still think that the guitar is a difficult instrument. Because, sometimes I get the impression that it is very easy for some players. But that is just a facade, everyone has to work very hard to get to a certain level.
