The good old Korg DW-6000/-8000/EX-8000 hybrid synths could do that as well. (Korg's choice of internal waveforms was probably inspired by the sales figures of the Yamaha DX7.)

Soft Orchestra is a lovely patch, its one of the first sounds I heard from this that caught my attention.

Finally Moog puts out a poly synth that is for (almost) everyone. It's not cheap, but I'd say it's in the ballpark of competition priced/featured contemporaries like Oberheim and Sequential. An analog poly with 8 voices at around $3500 sounds just about right. No Poly AT but that's not overly common yet. This is the kind of machine analog junkies want. I know the DX/FM synths caused (most) American analog synth companies to go under in the 80's, and I'm all for innovation. But, manufacturers should not (and hopefully won't) abandon analog synthesis. FM, sample based, actual samplers, wave table, granular and any other form of synthesis does not mean that there's no place for analog. Just because we have electric guitars, and electric pianos, doesn't mean we stopped making acoustic versions. Just because we have digital, doesn't mean we shouldn't also make analog synths. We make cars, trucks, SUVs, min vans and various off road vehicles for reasons/needs. Synth makers need to recognize the same thing. Maybe Roland and Yamaha will realize that ACTUAL analog is still a real market. Thank you, Moog!

This synth has a perfect layout and was designed for comfortable and fast use. The options it features will occupy sound designers for years to come. It's a new staple and could set a trend. Nevertheless, this unit has the potential to become a classic. The sound variety is amazing, it can even sound slightly digital by times: a great bonus on top, at least for me. My nod to Taiga. The mod matrix is awesome and I like the display format. As said: I think the layout is perfect, it somehow mimics the layout of a VST. So well thought out. 🎉 Finally: The sound quality is beyond any question. Mellow, like silk, melted chocolate, crisp, gnarly, harsh, brutal gritty, it's all there. A very intimate and personal sound. All those sweetspot. A sound designers (affordable) dream. 😅

Its started with analog synthesis, then it progressed to digital synthesis and now we've returned to analog synthesis with the 21st century sophistication of control and direct mapping without as she said a ton of menu diving. You just have to have a concept of what the controls can do e.g. voiced controlled oscillators, arpeggiators, asdr's etc. etc. If you've ever operated a modular system, you will really appreciate the Muse.

What does it sound like if you use the modulation oscillator to modulate the filter cuttoff at audio rate? I have seen a demo of a digital synth do this with a simple sine wave input to the filter as both input and modulator, but with an envelope shaping the amount of modulation. The resulting timbre was amazing - like a really breathy sax - but a bit muted in the high end due to the anti aliasing filters needed in digital. I would love to hear the same thing on an analog filter...

At 0:17 … I thought she was busting out some Van Halen… Jump to be more specific. But that’s like going to elementary school for her, I’m sure. Come to think of it, Lisa could do a KILLER version of the 1984 instrumental that Eddie did on the Oberheim, but do it in “her” style… like have the main riff to I’ll Wait playing softly in the background as part of her ambience. That would be killer

Great demo. I'll be sticking with my Moog One for now, as this is still a downgrade to the One. But I can understand if someone else sells their One for the Muse. It seems to be more for players than synth patch creators. Not having polyphonic aftertouch is still wild to me. And I agree with someone else in the comments; it sounds more like a Jupiter 8 than a Moog. Which isn't bad. Unless you view it as a bad thing. :)
