I put this on the other day to jam to with my sax and decided to focus on arpeggios of the chords, then started added a few linking noted in between then realised I'm playing jazz! I always tried to find the right scale before but a 7 chord gives you 4 notes and then with chromatics or notes from previous chords it all just gels together. Works in my head anyway!!!

Georgia, Georgia The whole day through Just an old sweet song Keeps Georgia on my mind (Georgia on my mind) I said Georgia Georgia A song of you Comes as sweet and clear As moonlight through the pines Other arms reach out to me Other eyes smile tenderly Still in peaceful dreams I see The road leads back to you I said Georgia Ooh Georgia, no peace I find Just an old sweet song Keeps Georgia on my mind (Georgia on my mind) Other arms reach out to me Other eyes smile tenderly Still in peaceful dreams I see The road leads back to you Whoa, Georgia Georgia No peace, no peace I find Just this old, sweet song Keeps Georgia on my mind I said just an old sweet song Keeps Georgia on my mind

I am putting up a video on this ..hopefully today. I usually play this the way way Hoagy wrote this. Ray made the song famous according to my reading..The turnarounds and chord progressions are masterful. I did this on piano. Also in G. Like to see music in various ways.

If everything goes ok. It will be up shortly. I.have it already to go. There are several others coming. I put your name in the video editing itself.I made some mistakes. I know a fair amount of theory. There are are a lot of twist and turns in the progression. I tried to figure it out. Not there yet. I. understand Hoagy.Carmichael's version.. As you know he wrote it in F.maj 7. About two years ago I was doing a white board board.video. of the progression.(I am doing this from memory..hopefully I.can find a copy of it on KZbin and send you the link..). The original version.by Hoagy. Is close to. (Fmaj7. Emin7b5. A7b9 DMin7. Gmin7. Fmaj7).. I was wring it down on the.board and realized that they were the diatonic 7ths. in order for every body..Fmaj7 Gmin7 Amin7 Bb7. C7 Dmin7 Emin7b5 Fmaj7 7.. I actually learned this progression by my.piano teacher in grade 7. It was in C . Also my jazz guitar teacher taught me this in the.90s. I actually have a few chord.melody vifeo of.this on.Y T.

My mother told me 'fore she passed away Said, son, when I'm gone, don't forget to pray 'Cause there'll be hard times, hard times, woah, yeah, yeah Who knows better than I? Well, I soon found out just what she meant When I had to pawn my clothes just to pay my rent Talkin' 'bout hard times, hard times, woah, yeah, yeah Who knows a little better than I? I had a woman, Lord, who's always around But when I lost my money, she put me down Talkin' 'bout hard times, you know those hard, yeah, Lord Who knows better than I? Yeah, Lord, yeah, one of these days There'll be no more sorrow when I pass away And no more hard times, I said, no more hard, yeah, Lord Who knows, hey Lord, better than I?

..Trying to get what's happening...the G7 is meant to get to the C..circle of fifths. The D base with G appears to D augmented. It seems that we are wanting to more less go to G7... But we are are going down a whole step from Emin to D and eventually getting to C because of the G7. Circle of 4ths. Then we go to C# dim. ( C# E G) Min stacked thirds. Seems just a way to get back to G then go to Emin.. Any thoughts?

Working on this. This is a timeless piece. I like to see what is going on and try to share the reasoning. Advanced or semi advanced will be bored..however it may help many others and I will try to do that. A beginner will not understand this. Probably save for later. d It jumps right to the B7 from the G. A major third of the G scale . G A B notes. Base player might do a.walk up here. I probably would play notes G A Bb B on base guitar or piano in about third octave here. Then I believe it goes up a fourth from B to Emin7 B C# D# E.are the notes of the B scale try to put the notes in so nobody will get confused. I've been there. 😕. Next I was just a little confused about the slash chord G7/D. G7 chords are the Root. 3 5 and the b7. b7 means we flat the major.7..maj 7 of the major G scale is F#..so we lower or flat that. Note the b7 will always be a whole tone below the root. G down a whole tone is F. So G7 will be chord (G B D F) or some combo of those notes. So the G7/D over D..What is going on.The base line From the Emin would be E to D. So what really do we have D G B D F. That gets a little complicated. I will continue this.
