i could hear george talk all day. i love lowden guitars, and they’re an amazing company with phenomenal guitars and an even more extraordinary culture. one of my greatest guitar nerd dreams came true when i got to meet and hang out with them during winter namm in 2020. the passion and continuity of their team was extremely transparent and i’m proud to be a (multiple) lowden guitar owner. bravo!!!!

I love the shape and medium size of the one Lowden is holding.

I really like your attitude as far as production quotas and letting employees be creative. It does come out in the guitar. I never heard of Lowden Guitars until recently and i really like them. As you said, each guitar will have it's own personality. I also like the old ones with the plain, simple design where the sound speaks for itself. Something you would see in a stone cottage with a fire going, the guitar resting in the corner. One other thing you do right is the matte finish or oil finish. This looks so much better than a slick and shiny finish. I am more of a classical guitar guy now but have an old Larrivée L-03R which is like the Lowden original but with a more narrow body and it is a matte finish. It is holding up well and sounds beautiful. I use it now and then for cross training. Thanks George!

It's good to support these kind of people and they're art, as it really is a small affair which is producing these guitars. I'm glad that I was able to buy two of these new when I could.These people need support to be able to produce this honorable quality.. and I really love the Irish to begin with.I would have loved to visit.

I’ve owned a Lowden for 25 years, and it’s a joy to finally ‘meet’ its designer. Thanks for the interview!

So you've got one from their golden era when they were made by the luthiers that now make Avalon guitars??........ George Lowden did not make a Lowden between 1989 and 2003.....but he now enjoys the reputation earned by the company he did not own.

Yes, you are correct, it was built by the guys who later formtAvakon. But as far as I know, the guitar I own was built on Lowden’s design.

What does being too good for the stage even mean? Is there someone who can explain it to me?
@RoyPortel3 ай бұрын
I'm guessing here but it might mean the guitar produces too many overtones and thus/or is too prone to feedbacking? Given that it was fixed by stiffening the back and reducing body depth

Nice interview which I really enjoyed. But the subtitles were simply laughable - unless you have to rely on them. So many errors in transcription. Obviously software generated or done by someone with no knowledge of the subject or the Irish accent. Please consider revisiting this aspect of the video! Also it would have been nice to hear GL give some appreciation of and thanks to the many people who, especially in his early career, were more than willing to share freely with him their own hard-won skills and techniques in basic woodworking and guitar making.

Hey, thanks for your feedback on the video. We've taken it on board and transcribed and reviewed the subtitles. We appreciate you taking the time and watching it and hope you find the new captions legible! In regards to your other thoughts, on the same evening we filmed this interview - George actually held a Q&A clinic which we livestreamed and uploaded here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKmbh6yped19gNk George goes in to a lot more detail with his career in that video!
