This solo is for me a compendium of modern rock guitar techniques. It's all there. Best DT era by far ❤️🔥

Really like your analysis. And because of your musicality I still get to know new elements to this song or DT in general, even after 20 some years 😊

Thank you! I tried my best haha! It’s not easy with this type of music, a bit to complicated for me!

I love how John stuffed just about every relevant lead guitar technique into this masterpiece...and none of it feels forced just for the sake of doing it. Without a doubt one of the best written and executed guitar solos of all time. Not sure how many folks have noticed, but Under a Glass Moon has an unofficial part II, and its called Lost Not Forgotten. Just listen to the structure, pace, and arrangement compared to U.A.G.M....its ALL there, from the slidey octave intro & outro, to the dry tight 2nd riff, the chorus riff is like the Glass Moon part "Nervouss flashlights scan my dreams"...and the solo is a monster too. Every solid guitar player should spend a few hours minimum learning this masterclass of lead guitar playing...use your ears, break it into its logical pieces, nail each section one at a time slowly, don't settle...listen to the little nuances of all the big notes and execute them properly, connect the parts together, get it up to tempo.... I PROMISE you will be a better lead guitar player for putting this work in. GUARANTEED.

Under a Glass Moon, Cemetery Gates by Pantera, and The Final Cut by Coheed and Cambria are easily my top 3 favorite solos 🙌🏼

Sadly Labries technique isnt what lost his voice, it was a food poisoning from pork he ate on a vacation in cuba about a year later when this was filmed. severe vomiting caused his vocal cords to rupture and it hasnt been the same since.

aah, really? I didn't know that! Imagine losing your "instrument" like that. That must have sucked

arrived on the back of KVA= love the dry humour.................and some DT is always a good thing - loved them from 92 onwards - not so much after MP left and now he's back its ok but i do think the latest songs are do it by the numbers - the time changes and dissonance - they lost it after images and words - james did a singing course back when too..................

Yeah, I had to look it up after I recorded this. I didn't know He played on Images and Words. I always thought that was Rudess haha

@@ErikSallad1 - Jordan’s great but like Derek Sherinian they have a core style - sometimes it works………..Kevin was a ahead of the curve in notes and soundscapes
