My first time on this channel, but it’s so great to see someone that truly understands music react to Billy. I just hope he checks out “Turmoil & Tinfoil” too! Bluegrass requires talent, but when bluegrass and heavy metal have a baby is a different level 😂

As a fellow guitar player/ old hippie, if you are into The Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia, Billy has channeled Jerry's spirit! Suggest checking out his more recent output. Peace.

Billy Strings won the 2019 International Bluegrass Music Association Guitar Player of the Year award in 2019. You might also take a look at Molly Tuttle, who won the award in 2017 and 2018 (the first female guitarist to win). She does a great job on Townes Van Zandt's White Freightliner Blues.

I love that you stepped away from your comfort zone and checked out Billy and his band. I hope that you will check out more by him. You pointed out he was shredding on the guitar; he actually was in a metal band as a teen. In his live shows he is known to cover a wide variety of music including Pink Floyd, Black Sabbeth, Pearl Jam, And the Grateful Dead as well as traditional bluegrass songs....you should even hear what he did to cover of the Cher song "Believe" (He improved that 10,000%). Anyway you should check out maybe a live video or lyric video from one of his last 2 albums, "HOME" or "RENEWAL". Both have Grammys coming from them and both are amazing. Personal favorite from home is Watch it Fall linked here kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2qamItvhriqkM0 or try one from renewal my favorite one is "Secrets" linked here in a lyric video kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKWypJyDlr-Mr6s

Would love to hear you react to more virtuoso instrumentalists and weird genres. Try bill wurtz, thundercat, jd beck & domi, vulpeck. Interesting channel. You're obviously more knowledgeable than most reactors. Subbed.

I tried banjo for a bit but that 5th string isn't easy to get used to. Mandolin is fun & fiddle is just tuned and strung the same, just not doubled & fretless. Edit: if you'd be so kind, Benjamin Tod and The Lost Dog Street Band are incredible songwriters and there's just not enough reactions to them imo. If you have time? Or curiosity?

This was fun, beautiful harmonies 👍 I have a suggestion for you. Brand new song from Swedish band Evergrey, Save Us was released 3 days ago. A rougher, prog metal sound, killer chorus. Hope to see you react to them, 😀🇸🇪
@MattFarkas2 жыл бұрын
Ooh, prog metal you say? 👀
@brittjannesath25392 жыл бұрын
Yes, and they are damn good. Think you would like them too. 👍some info here:This overwhelming journey through progressive heaviness and searing emotionality reaches new heights and is preceded by the arrival of the soaring first single "Save Us," in which heavy prog and melancholic beauty climax in a soulful chorus that proves Evergrey to be top songwriters in their genre. The pounding album opener reflects everything the new full-length stands for, as it kicks in immediately with stunning guitar work and unveils a chorus sure to top the annals of Evergrey history. Listen carefully and you will hear the voices of hundreds of fans who were invited by Evergrey to send recordings of their voices to later provide group vocals for the track - making their everlasting mark on Evergrey history.

Billy is going to be an artist that is monumental in the evolution of actual bluegrass music but you need to go way way back and star with the roots. He’s great but you need to listen to the guys that inspires him to fully appreciate him.

As far as young modern day bluegrass guitars players, I would recommend listening to Zeb Snyder of the Appliachian Roadshow and also Trey Hensley. They play the fire out of acoustic guitar.
