My Deftones Playlist! • Deftones
In this My Own Summer (Shove It) guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this awesome song from the Deftones.
The tuning is Drop C# tuning. That is, starting from the 6th string, C# G# C# F# A# D#.
We basically have three guitar riffs to learn. Guitarist Stephen Carpenter keeps it pretty simple in this one, but still creates a powerful musical statement nonetheless.
I will cover each riff in the order that each appears on the original recording.

@@cruellangellcomics7824After playing a long time you just recognize the note and where it is on the fretboard, and if you play lots of lead you’ll recognize some runs and stuff that makes it easier

I've never played drop c Love the power cord. Found you when I wanted to learn play with me, luckily I been practicing the solo for a year before I decided I wanted to learn the entire song. Still can't get up to speed, maybe 180. I should power on and off it'll be much easier but I'm trying to get my picking to work as fast as my fingers.

Oh maaaaan this takes me back to cranking The Matrix soundtrack in the car. My first exposure to Rob Zombie, Deftones and RatM. Good stuff. That and Armageddon were the best soundtracks of the 90's. Truly a great time for music.

This was the first song i ever learned on guitar about 7-8 years ago. It's really easy, just the tempo is kind of weird in the beginning but you can get this down in 1 day of practice since it has no solos. I'm just here to appreciate the badass song even tho i know how to play it already :)
