This is in my opinion the best tutorial for this song that I have ever found and I have keeping getting back to it through the years .The only missing part for me is the lack of diagrams on screen because I find a little hard to understand every position guides from Carl while He is teaching them.Still, that’s my problem… this is a wonderful and complete tutorial. Thank dear Carl

Carl is amazing at tutorials. I admit when I was a beginner, it was hard to keep up with his lessons, but now that I’ve been playing for years now it’s simply straightforward.

Both solos are extremely tasteful in my opinion. Tears for Fears are really good at mixing stuff together in a tasteful way. The last solo almost sounds like it could be a fusion band.

An alternative way to play the verse is to just play the bottom 4 notes of an A major bat chord but with the ring finger removed followed by the bottom 4 notes of a G major. It adds the sound of low E string which I find makes it sound better muted

Solid lesson, great tune and you do it well sir, but play it all the way thru once, with a track so those of use playing along at home can as well. I love your lessons they are very true to the songs. Question. My biggest problem with playing leads is that I have a tendency to hit the wrong string with my picking hand. I have worked hard to improve in this area but it is still a problem. It seems like a lot of guitarists play fairly effortlessly in this area. Am I missing something? Are there any exercises to improve in this area? Do you watch your picking hand as you play or how do you avoid this problem?
