I just bought Rory Gallagher’s ‘63 Corvette at auction. I can’t wait to play it.

After watching the video I understand why Gretsch didn't pursue this design. It's cool and quirky but not up to the other Gretsch guitars of the day.

The one I had that was almost identical except had only one pickup was the most easy playing guitar I've ever played. You only had to rest your fingers on the strings to get excellent sound.

Beauty! I have a single pickup '63. I got rid of the HiLo and put in a TV Jones Classic+, also glued the bridge. It's so awesome to play.

I used to have one of these back in the 1970s. That guitar had a special feeling. Mine had some tuning issues. Wish I had kept it because some guitar doctor could have breathed new life into it. Mine had the same headstock and the two pickup set up.

Nice playing as always, and cool guitar. Love the corvettes. Readers, i had a beloved 61 corvette taken along with 3 others from my storage unit this summer. Totally greedy, and this is a stretch, but the serial of the gretsch is 43255, with one hilo. If ever found, please contact mark renfro in gardena, california. My heart bleeds.

So confused. Why is the headstock normal? And why is the bridge anchored? And the out of phase isn't original. BTW that's a Burns vibrato....not Bigsby.

I have a 64 and the headstock is two on top, four on the bottom.

REALLY late to the party in this one, so more for anyone else who gets pulled in by the question: These were 3+3 until '64, then they switched to the 2+4 on the Firebird-style hs. Burns bar was also stock even though Gretsch was putting Bigsby on the other models. One of those guitars that earned Gretsch the rep of being 'bits and bobs' for awhile early on. FYI, they also fluctuated between single pup like a Jr dc and 2 pups.

Love your videos Ollie! Great playing and interesting guitars, not just an endless parade of popular Gibson and Fender models.
