In the chorus the bass is walking. And I do believe Phil played the main riff an octave higher. I always played the main riff lower as well.

Yeah Phil Lynott played mostly in the middle area of the bass, I think this would be to similar to the guitar part.

With respect, the verse, pre chorus and chorus are incorrect. The run pre solo is the only thing that is correct. Watch Lynott play it live, he was nearly always in the middle of the neck. You can hear that he's not playing an open E flat and you can hear the run clearly too.
