Guitar World asked her to be in a video and she said yeah. Since her band is on the rise right now, Guitar World was interested in their guitar work. She may or may not know how to sweep the whole fretboard like rings of Saturn or whatever, but she's still a great musician whether you like it or not

A guitar playthrough video isnt supposed to the most entertaining thing to watch. It's supposed to be the guitar player sitting and playing the song how it's played on the album so other fellow guitar players and guitar nerds can learn how to play it. Why on earth people are complaining about a guitar playthrough video not being entertaining or shredtastic enough is beyond me.

Electric guitar, spanning 6, 7, and 8 strings, whammy bar, distortion, and processing, is a very idiosyncratic instrument, and guitar players some of the most idiosyncratic musicians. All that matters to me is the relationship with the instrument, and I see that here. Good job and nice playing. Have fun.
@JamesZhan9 жыл бұрын
I cannot stand the misogyny in the KZbin community. -First of all I am very sure that Guitar World is not about how technical and crazy you can get with guitar playing, so stop whining about how oh-psh-power-chords the song is; you need to realize that there are songs that are way easier, yet way more famous (which proves that you don't need to shred to make good music). If you think it can only be considered as "good music" only when there are crazy shredding, then I will leave you alone because your ignorance is beyond curing. -Second, this song is great and the production is amazing. You are of course to disagree with that, and make your criticism. -Third, why is it a big deal that it's a female musicians? Female musicians like them are probably better people than many in the KZbin community - they deal with misogynistic comments, they deal with oh-they-got-signed-because-they-are-all-girls kind of disrespecting comments, they write music, they tour (which is nothing fun when are you doing it a lot; constantly being on the road, on the tour bus etc), they take risks (being musicians, you know), they pursue their dreams. -Fourth, do you know what is it like to working on an album? Do you know how much effort and investment and dedication are required to make an album? It's much much harder, 1000x harder than you would imagine. If I am not misinformed, Conquer Divide has been working on this debut album for at least 2 years. -Look at the mirror and think what kind of people you are, and stop disrespecting musicians. -Be a civilized person, like them or not, respect them. Sorry for the rant. Keep it up Conquer Divide!

She's using Drop E, not standard tuning. She palm mutes with open 5 and 6 all the time. You can see at 1:17 she does 3>5 fret 5th string and it sounds D>E, so the 5th string is tuned B instead of the A from Standard Tuning. The riff in 1:48 also uses open E (4th string). E, B, E, A, C#, F# Peace out o/

You're like a deer in the headlights What I said you didn't wanna believe You're so inane and misguided You won't get the best of me Well I can't help that it's not worth it You had your chance and you missed out You couldn't change me, so don't mistake me I'm not someone who will back down Last night I saw that your intentions Were relentless (Relentless) What makes you think I won't fight back? I'm outstretched but you're outmatched So here we are, make your move But you don't have what it takes I'm on the edge and I don't care I never said that I'd fight fair I'm awaiting the next provocation It's not me, you just love the fixation You could break me in every way You could bring me right to my knees By the time you count to three I'll be standin' on my own two feet You're the nightmare that's chasin' me You could tear away all my dreams I'll show you what it means to scream When I'm standin' on my own two feet My own two feet The skies disguised like you with all your charm Till lightening hits the ground I can't believe you thought I'd save you When you'd just let me drown Wake up 'cause you're not listening Tell me what it is that you fail to see I won't let you destroy this You're just a self-fulfilling prophecy You could break me in every way You could bring me right to my knees By the time you count to three I'll be standin' on my own two feet You're the nightmare that's chasin' me You could tear away all my dreams I'll show you what it means to scream When I'm standin' on my own two feet My own two feet Is that all you've got? Try to bring me down, let's see how far you get Just walk away, you're too little too late And that was your last mistake You can't take away part of me, my dreams Your voice meaningless, I'm what you'll never be You're not what I made up, a figment of a dream You said you'd bring me to my knees These footprints in the ground No, I'm never fallin' down When will you see (These footprints in the ground) I'm done playin' these games, screamin' in vain (No I'm never falling) Waiting for you to hear me (Down) You could break me in every way You could bring me right to my knees By the time you count to three I'll be standin' on my own two feet You're the nightmare that's chasin' me You could tear away all my dreams (Tear away all my dreams) I'll show you what it means to scream When I'm standin' on my own two feet My own two feet

So much energy is wasted on saying stupid shit. Who gives a F**K! Nothing wrong with a girl or woman playing some metal. Especially in such a male dominated industry. Whether the song is easy or not, listen to the music for the music. No reason to hate or be jealous. We should all actually say Thank You for helping keep metal alive in a genre that has been driven so far underground. You go girl. You could be an inspiration for the younger generation of girls who want to play music. Keep metal going. Male or Female.

As I read the comments I wonder what variety of genre some of the people have had. If you go back and listen to cuts like say Maggot Brain, you can find something way beyond flashy riffs. Something that doesn't just dazzle, but punches straight into a person. Music in it's simple form is an art. In art we try to convey an emotion. Somewhere along the line I think some have forgotten that. From conjuring soul shattering blues to raging battle hymns to stir masses into a frenzy it has always been about the emotion. Without a meaning to play you might as well be doing scales as fast as possible. Sorry for my opinionated response, just awestruck and baffled is all.

Awesome chord progressions and melodies, combined with smooth flowing progressions, buildups and variation. I love it.
