That being said, Gukesh won this one fair and square - better prep, better accuracy, more confidence, more focus, more energy, etc, he 100% deserved the win. I was very confused by Ding's lack of self-confidence. I wanted to be on his team and say "Dude you're the WC - WAKE UP - intimidate this challenger". Ding seems like such a nice guy and ultimately I felt bad for his mental health struggles I'm ethnically Indian and am very happy for Gukesh's win as well. However I'm not tribal. I hope Ding comes back strong and challenges over the next decade.

"I have no regrets" This one quote just shows how accepting ding is. he would not change anything for the world. he became the world champion when given the chance. he came to put on a fight. gave gukesh a fight. a deserving world champion Ding Lien was. Gukesh acknowledges that. Despite the struggles mentally Ding truly won it all. And you know. Credit it Gukesh as well. he played well. Won the match. and now he is the world chess champion. and the fact that the sees that ding was struggling yet still praised him for his efforts. This truly was a well played match by both players. excited to see who Gukesh will face in 2026 when he is 20. maybe it will be Hikaru or Babi. maybe Arjun. congrats to both players. especially ding for gifting through everything he was going to. I am not trying to take anything away from Gukehs. He deserved this win and he owes it to himself and his team.
