This was a interesting video. I have been putting off starting my own channel for over a year and intend to put up some content in the next week or so. That said I was happy to see a 101 type video on the webber kettle. My first video will be a similar 101 type video using the kettle and showing folks how to grill a steak. I believe to many folks who use pellet cookers never learned how to properly grill a steak. This now also includes folks using those large griddles they are calling "flat tops". Those cookers are all well and nice but they are limited by folks getting a good foundation on how to grill. Then with a good understanding of grilling learn to move onto bbq and smoking. Anyway your video was a good example. I would add however that the additional tools you showed would mostly not make my list. The chimney starter is a good start but not necessary. My grandfather taught me how to use a #10 can for charcoal starting about 56 years ago. Long before anyone was making chimney starters. The vortex, the slow and sear? Both a a waste of money. Just bank all your coals on one side and you have both indirect or direct with one setup. Use the smaller disposable aluminum tray to add water for more even and high humidity for certain cooks,especially long bbq & smoking cooks plus catch drippings. A probe style thermometer is good,yes. But I would add some quality long tongs, a sturdy long handled spatula. Paper towels. A good although not expensive set of trays, one for raw meat and a separate tray for cooked meats ( always two to keep from getting cross contamination) and a good lighter. I went ahead and subscribed to your channel so I can check out your other videos. I'll probably leave a few comments along the way. Be prepared, I tend to leave long comments. Anyway have a great day 🌤 😀 🔥🍻🥩🐟🎣🍔🍗

Weber makes great products and I can't speak enough good things about Weber. I have my Weber chargcoal grill mounted in a table too. If there were any criticism about the grill, it would be the wimpy legs. My gas grill doesn't see much action. The vortex is great for wings.

If you have the budget and your heart is somewhat set on a kamado, I won't try to change your mind, but the Weber Kettle with the accessories covered here (especially the SnS and Vortex) is my go-to recommendation for anyone who wants to expand beyond gas grills. Throw in a rib rack if you want to cook more than one slab at a time. Do not assume this means that the Kettle is a "beginner or starter grill/smoker." Rather, it's more of a jack of all trades vs. a specialized grill or smoker. And, as you learn more about what and how you like to cook, you can expand into other types of cookers. But these most likely would augment your Kettle instead of replace it.
@GulfCoastSmoke2 жыл бұрын
Weber Kettle IMHO is the best bang for your buck! Such a great cooker, and my favorite cooker in my arsenal. I’ve been VERY curious about the sNs Kettle. Have you tried it or seen them? Part of me really wants to see how good it is. The other part of me almost cannot go away from Weber.
@bradm15072 жыл бұрын
@@GulfCoastSmoke The Weber Kettle really is a great value. I have the original SnS insert with the welded-in water reservoir, the spinning grate, and the drip/griddle pan. I think these are must have accessories. A Vortex (small) and a rib rack would be highly recommended, but perhaps not must-haves. These accessories definitely increase the price and put it into SnS Kettle territory, (which comes with some of these accessories depending on the model). I haven't tried the SnS Kettle, but have seen some videos and think they look like a solid product. Basically, they're a Weber Kettle with some nice quality of life improvements. Personally, I'd likely stick with the Weber. One of the benefits is just how ubiquitous accessories and replacement parts are for it. You can even find some in your big box hardware stores. While many accessories are likely compatible with the SnS Kettle, you never know. If I wanted an "upgrade," I'd either get the Performer Premium with the side cart or I might go for a 26" version. I'd appreciate the extra room of the 26" when grilling with the SnS and the larger size would make temp control a little easier for indirect, low-and-slow cooks.

I am recently retired, not that it has anything to do what I'm going to say because I love cooking out and always have. I have a Weber gas grill, a Blackstone griddle grill, a Brinkman smoker (a small one I've never used), and two Weber kettle grills - the 18' one and I think it's the 22' that I just added last summer. I tried several times to use the kettle that is bigger. I have looked online, watched numerous videos, gone to Weber's site for tips and did everything everyone says to do to get a hot grill and maintain the temperature. I have a chimney starter and the charcoal baskets. I just can't seem to get the temperature, one, to get hot enough for a good sear, and two, get ANY fire to stay hot. I basically gave up on it. I'll try it again this spring, but I guess I just don't "have" the knack. Great video though, and thanks for this.

I don’t know what problem you have with the built in temp gauge. I find it to be very accurate! I would contact Weber if you believe the temp gauge is defective. @@GulfCoastSmoke definitely, I purchased my kettle after watching all you guys videos using the kettle and spinning the grate to cook to find out the stock grate does not spin. With a little grinding on the areas that prevent it from spinning it now spins perfect 👌

You may want to work with S&S instead of Weber. Most of your equipment seems to be aftermarket gadgets

I don’t work with Weber or SNS at all! But SNS did send me a Kettle and I love it!

My kettle puts out just as good smoked pork butts as my big green egg.

No doubt! It’s such a good cooker!

Weber is way overprized. Especially the accesoires. (At least over here in Europe) .The chassis of the Master Touch really is not a steady one. I see you have a customized setting... The only good thing is the quality of the kettle enamel, imho.

I have to disagree on the price. It’s extremely affordable and I feel like the average Backyard cook can for sure afford one. IMO you don’t need any attachments at all, they’re just nice additions!

Surrounding a grill with wood just seems like an unnecessary fire hazard.
