I flew there in 2017. Not much load of permission, registration etc back then...I really don't know about the present rules. But seeking permission and getting it feels so bookish to me that I don't believe any traveller has ever taken it (even if they claim so). But surely you can try seeking permission. And let us know too.

I don't know the exact solution for this but here is what you can do. If you are an Indian citizen, get your drone registered on Digital Sky. Then you can say to your airline that this drone is already registered with DGCA and its (drone) transmitter/ receiver etc. already type certified by WPC ( indirectly through DGCA).

Thanks ! Earlier there were no clear guidelines regarding drones in India. It was prohibited though. However, now there are clear guidelines. So it may be risky now. Best of luck with weather...and have fun!!!

Hi I'm from gulmarg Kashmir and my customers visited here in winter 2017 with drone camera, and one other friend came from sking here in feb 2018 ,with drone, But the issue is you can use the drone camera in gulmarg and on mountains while sking or while visiting, But in cities you can't use the drone camera, because of security situations , I'm also from gulmarg Kashmir,

A lot have changed since I went there. For example, check if your drone is registered on Digital Sky platform. Please get in contact with someone local like your Hotel staff to get the most recent updates.

@@travelmemoir Yes I used to carry the drone like that initially when there was no guidelines. But ever since Drones are registered at Digital Sky Platform, i started carrying them normally. But this time they said that recently the guidelines have changed and drones are not allowed. I convinced them that my drone is registered and I have all the details, they let me put it in check-in bag and did some special scanning.

There is certain procedure to fly drones...you may please check the latest guidelines as they are very dynamic. There were no clear guidelines when i was there.

There is an update! If your drone weights less than 250 gms, you don't need to register. Else you have to , last date of which is 31st Jan 2020, 17:00 hrs. So for your nano drone, you don't need to register, and that would be legal. Still not sure about permission in Gulmarg.

Beautiful video. I want to ask are drones allowed in Kashmir? We are flying to jammu (flying back from Srinagar) this month end and we plan to carry our Mavic Mini. We are travelling to Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam etc and want to shoot some footage with our drones. If there is no risk of confiscation only then we'd want to carry the drones. Your reply would be appreciated. TIA

Back in 2018 when I shot the videos, there was no guidelines about Drones in India. Later DGCA has come up with some clarity recent of which is registration of your drones on Digital Sky Platform. The last date to register was 31st January 2020 through which unique identification number has been given to each Drone and its operator in India. That was the last thing I am updated about. So if you what to go by the procedure, you should have that OAN and DAN, as they call it, with you. They can authoritatively ask you about these two numbers. As far as permission to fly is concerned, I think that is still vague and you may try asking local police/defense about that. In my opinion, you should carry your drone and even if you don't get permission to fly, you can fly very close to ground and that yields some good results too. Best of Luck!

@@logontogaurav Thanks for such a prompt reply. I checked the digitalsky website and it clearly states "Nano RPA are currently exempt from registration, import licenses as well as NPNT compliance. You can fly your RPA up to 50 ft and in enclosed premises, today! Please do not forget to read our Do’s and Don'ts". Since Mavic Mini falls in the nano category, i should be ok. Thanks again man. As per my recent experience and discussion with security personnel at one of the airport, keep the drone in check-in bag. Take out the propellers, battery and keep them separated as much as you can. If the drone is registered in Digital Sky Platform, keep the number ready for display, if any issue happens.
