This strat is crazy, saw PiG analyzing it himself, very interesting, it is super expensive to invest, but damn those changelings and overseers are annyonig, I thought about it what benfits they may hold if executed well: - constant scouting, on enemy army movement/position + base for remaxes, or tech switches, (no surprise BC transition) - obviously constant opportunity to find and spot actual best nydus spots for lurker hit and runs or full base trade. - also keeping opponent home from any moveout ( even though this strat is to counter major turtle terran plays) eventually they would move out... - if someone has extra APM blocking ramps for reinforcements with changelings can decide battles if half of the army is not present from opponent, or even a couple of seconds late due to this... -Goes without saying but you have almost unlimited detection, cloacked ghosts rendered useless as we can see... - the vision block from lurkers is also very viable not easy to snipe banes, lurkers under the overseer cloud...love it! Wodner if this is viable on lower levels , like diamond, but the best part was that Rouge expanded to the terran side of the map in the mean time, excellent to pin down a turtle terran and overmine the map, worked even against CLEM whitch is crazy, but I am interested to see and try this strat more! Thanks for making the video about it!

I've had a couple zergs do it to me on the ladder at D2 recently. I'd say it's even stronger at lower level, because it takes less APM for the Zerg to implement than it does for the terran to try to counter, and APM is a scarcer resource at lower level. Plus lower level players just get overwhelmed more easily. I've got a roughly even winrate against it, but only because the players I come across doing it are generally pretty bad otherwise (since it works so well, they've gained a ton of MMR from overwhelmed opponents making mistakes).

i think pig's analysis was a bit off because he was trying to compare straight up resource cost of overlords vs army units, but that's not quite right. overlords don't take up supply so they can exist alongside army units instead of replacing them. from what i've seen rogue doesn't pull this nonsense until late game anyway when he's resource rich so there's really no opportunity cost lost here.

It is not that expensive, at all. Maybe like 3k resources, for infinite nydus lottery tickets and forcing the other player on defense all game. There is zero downside to a changeling dying. BORING.

I think its unviable with contaminate. Watching other Rogue games it looks like Gumiho needed to push the bioball advantage right as overseers were coming, before the snakey guys (forget their name) were ready. Kinda felt like he got overrun with changelings and stopped scouting/harassing at the same time Gumiho expanded to the entire map.

Was this before or after rogue vs clem? Like, could Gumiho have prepared for this? Also, would mass liberator just obliterate this army or am i crazy? Their splash anti-air is pretty good against clumped units, and if they're not clumped, well then you can siege the libs and snipe the lurkers with the few ghosts you have. Very expensive comp i know, but so is rogue's...

Free units are ridiculous. What are you supposed to do against a never ending stream of changelings marching into your base? Only one of them needs to get through and you've got a nydus in your main, all at zero risk to the Zerg. Props to Rogue for coming up with this strat though. Mercilessly annoying the Terran until they surrender - big brain stuff!

The changelings aren't exactly free. The zerg player needs to invest in all those overseers. The zerg unit "risks" resourses. He's betting on the terran player to get so stressed by the changelings that he starts playing bad. The terran player could just leave a handful of marines in each base to counter this. And all the zerg's investment would be lost.

Overseers have utility even without spamming changelings. We should try to count the average of how many overseers do Zerg create per game and how many do they lose - btw it still provides supply, you would need them as overlords anyways so you can count the initial 100 minerals out. And certainly you won't lose them for free if one of your flanks falls to some harassment, as you keep them with your main army which is basically untouchable. Instead of remaking overseers again and again and risking losing them to snipes and then losing much more army to cloak units, he makes a bank of them in advance - no cloak outplays, this broken free units strat and supply block prevention. Really clever, but really broken (apart from other things that are broken about Zerg)

He builds way more than the maximum needed overlord count to reach 200 supply so you can’t really count out the initial 100 at least in this manner that rogue is playing, the overseer definitely has some powerful abilities, but not to the extent you’re implying in my experience at least in watching pro games, lower level ladder is a different discussion all together so if that’s what you’re arguing for than my apologies for misinterpreting

Starting to get this on the ladder now, and I'll tell you, it's even more of an issue at Diamond level, where it takes far more APM to try and deny the changelings than it does to spam them. Very difficult to deal with if the Zerg is halfway decent otherwise!

That's also funny... Btw ghosts got nerfed several times already, snipe leash range is not infinite anymore (which means lurkers can always get away if Zerg doesn't sleep), snipe damage reduced, EMP radius reduced. Despite that Clem got so good that people think it's the ghost being OP! Yeah, surely nerfing then significantly 3 times helped Clem massively
